Happy Friday!

Ever wonder about the products I use?

These are balms from Pure FX, local, NZ Made, great quality natural product.

The main base ingredients are Grapeseed oil, coconut oil, and beeswax, then have essential oils on top of that.

This makes a wonderful smooth balm that feels great when being massaged, it easily absorbs into the body, and not too oily.

Have a wonder Easter weekend!

Make sometime for R&R, have a hot drink, and hopefully the Easter bunny brings you something sweet to have with it.

This easter bunny has hopped out of clinic for Easter and will be back next year.

The art of lymphatic drainage therapy.

What is it?
This type of therapy is different from massage therapy. It is a treatment that is used to stimulate the lymphatic system and help the body move lymph fluid.

What is the lymphatic systems general roll?
It drains excess lymph fluid, collects wastes, nutrient depleted fluid and other materials - such as cancer cells and bacteria in the bodies tissues. The system filters all of these through the lymph nodes and cleanses the Lymph fluid before it re-enters the bloodstream.

When to consider it?
Excess swelling from oedema
Injuries with damaged tissue that cause swelling or restriction.
Improve mobility
General health and immune functions
Hormonal
Digestive
Improving the appearance of the body.

Below is a recent before and after of the therapy taken last week. The client does regular exercise and gets fluid retention, build up of wastes. So the therapy helps with the feeling of tightness from this retention and visually helps with fluid retention.
In February the client had injury to her foot, creating pain and discomfort that has been there since. Massage wasn't an effective treatment, so we did lymphatic drainage and it has been super effective with no current issues.

Rotator cuff injury treatment.

This client has injured his rotator cuff and had been coming in for treatment to help with his chronic acute pain and limited range of motion. He recieves a mixture of trigger point therapy, passive release therapy and general massage therapy. The client also combines this with prescripted excercices from the physio. With this treatment the shoulder has gained alot of range of motion, reduced pain and is starting to gain strength.

There has been alot of improvement, but there is a deep dull ache that remains as the strength continues to grow and passive trigger points that cause referred pain. Reducing this ache will help with strength growth and continue with helping the range of motion of the arm.

To treat ache, at this appointment there has been a combined use of massage and dry needling of the infraspinatus (a rotator cuff muscle) and the trapezius that has been overworking with the limited use of the rotator cuff.

The needles are placed at the trigger points as an efficient and effective way to release the deep ache and the referred, radiating pain.
