✨ Meet Priyanka (Pri)! ✨

Say hello to Pri, one of the friendly faces you’ll see at Feilding Optometry! Pri graduated in 2017 and studied optometry at the University of Auckland. After discovering that rural optometry was the perfect fit, she started her career in Levin and has since settled into life in Feilding with her husband, where they’ve been based for the past three years.

Pri is warm and welcoming, has a real passion for the clinical side of optometry, and when she’s not at work, you’ll likely find her cooking up something delicious 👩‍🍳✨

👁️ Facts About an OCT Machine 👁️

An Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) machine is a non-invasive diagnostic device commonly used in ophthalmology. It captures high-resolution, cross-sectional images of the eye’s internal structures — especially the retina and optic nerve.

✨ What can an OCT scan detect?
• Macular degeneration
• Glaucoma
• Diabetic eye disease
• Retinal swelling or thinning
• Many other common eye conditions

The scan is quick, safe, and painless, usually taking only a few minutes — as you can see in the video below. 👇

Regular eye exams with OCT imaging can help detect problems early and protect your long-term vision.

Vicki is the warm, smiling face you’ll see at reception, always ready to help and make you feel welcome. When she’s not keeping things running smoothly at work, she loves spending time with her family and friends, enjoying a good glass of wine, and absolutely adores spending time with her granddaughter 💕

In November, our optometrist Harriet headed to Hokitika to take part in a rural optometry learning weekend. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the unique challenges and rewards of providing eye care in rural communities, and to collaborate with other optometrists from around the country 🤓

The weekend was a great balance of professional development and fun — with a zip line adventure, the stunning tree top walk, and a beautiful coastal bike ride all part of the experience.

Learning and sharing ideas with other optometrists is so invaluable, and it means we can continue bringing fresh ideas and the best possible care back to our Feilding community. Enjoy some of the photos from the weekend!

Helen has been part of the Visique Feilding family for 4.5 years, bringing with her around 20 years of experience in the world of optics 👓 so you’re definitely in expert hands.

Outside of work, you might spot Helen out on her motorbike 🏍️, enjoying quality time with her granddaughter 💕, or at home with her beloved pet rabbits 🐰. And if there’s dessert involved, Helen is in her element, she’s our undisputed queen of desserts, with a pavlova that’s nothing short of legendary!

Behind the scenes at our workshop, there’s been a flurry of tape, ribbon, and festive cheer as our team wraps up some special presents for Manchester House.

We’re proud to be donating these gifts to support the wonderful work they do, especially since they’re running low on presents for teens this year.

Hopefully our bundles bring a little extra joy where it’s needed most. 🎄🧝‍♂️

Meet Harriet! 👋

Harriet has proudly owned Visique Feilding Optometry since mid-2022, and with 10 years of optometry under her belt, she brings skill and a whole lot of energy to our practice.

When she’s not helping our community see their best, you can usually find her enjoying a lolly or a chockie bickie during her breaks (we fully support this lifestyle 🍬🍪).

Outside the clinic, Harriet is a super-mum to two gorgeous wee kids and loves hitting the court for a game of netball in the winter.
