Heartland Cottage Heartland Cottage is a Petting Zoo/animal rescue rehabilitation and a place where the neurodiverse community retrain animals, find a love for learning.

Open to the public daily, we provide a guided tour contact us to make a booking. Heartland Cottage is a space for the Disability community to come and learn about our special animals. We do cater to the general public by appointment only. To name just a few we have Valais Blacknose sheep, Scottish highland Cow, Kune Kune Pigs, Silky Chickens, and much more. We specialize in the disability community Message us today to book weekly/Fortnightly or Monthly visits. We offer work experience for members of the disability community, working with schools and local agencies. All our animals are hand raised and are very friendly giving you an up-close experience with our animals. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Today is National Day of Reflection to remember and reflect on survivors of abuse in State and faith-based care.

The National Day of Reflection acknowledges survivors and those who have passed, who suffered abuse, harm and neglect while in the care and for those who have sadly passed away.

This abuse caused real harm to thousands of individual survivors, to their whānau and communities, effecting Aotearoa as a whole.

Events across the country for survivors, whānau and communities to come together. While many of these events will be private, others are open to the public.
