Well, it’s mine turn! Internal pressure from within the practice has meant my profile is next. 😩😩.

I’m an experienced physiotherapist with over two decades of clinical practice in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

I graduated from the University of Auckland in 1999 with a degree in Physiotherapy, following an Honours degree in Physical Education from the University of Otago.

I have worked across a wide range of settings, including private practice and hospital environments, giving me a broad and well-rounded clinical background.

This experience allows me to manage both acute and complex musculoskeletal conditions, as well as postoperative rehabilitation, with confidence and care.

I am committed to providing high-quality, patient-centred care within the local community.

I have a special clinical interest in vestibular rehabilitation, knee and shoulder conditions, and post-operative rehabilitation.

I enjoy helping patients recover function, regain confidence, and return to the activities that are important to them.

Outside of the clinic, i enjoy golf, skiing, travel and fly fishing, and value spending time with my family.

I have been known for growing a 'travel moustache' when he is away from the clinic and have been known to wear a cowboy hat as well on special occasions. 🤗🤗.

Let’s meet Rosie,

Hi everyone, I am Rosie and I have been closely involved with Geraldine Physiotherapy for many years. I am still on the front desk and it is, as it always has been, a pleasure to care for you.

Working with a team of professionals across both physiotherapy and support ensuring the best possible outcome for patients is paramount. We are all dedicated to the Geraldine community and enjoy being apart of this deeply skilled and dynamic team.

My background has been varied, I incorporated travel where I could with stints of working/living in Spain, America, England and Germany. In addition, my working life also included living in various cities throughout NZ; New Plymouth, Wellington, Whakatane and Hamilton before coming to Geraldine 18 years ago. I have worked in a variety of industry; health, hotels, travel, roading, and regional councils acquiring skills along the way mainly around administration, policy and procedures, HR, management, project management and governance.

I am involved in a number of community based organisations and thoroughly enjoy my interactions with everyone I encounter. My hobbies include oil painting, gardening, walking, music and reading.

It is a pleasure to care for you.

Let’s meet Vanessa,

Kia ora to tatou hapori - Keep our community healthy

I’m Vanessa and originally from the Uk. I have lived in different countries and when my family visited Aotearoa, we wanted Geraldine to be our home. My family and I have been living in South Canterbury for 20 years.

I began my working life for the largest member-owned Building Society in the Uk, covering financial planning and customer services. I enjoyed helping match products for our clients needs.

I have been working with Geraldine Physiotherapy since 2013 on Reception, booking patients for our therapy services. The team I work with, do the mahi with our patients, for physical recovery and pathways to help progress healing. There is a wide range of services to enhance our patients rehabilitation. You may also see me in other work places in Geraldine.

I love the community connections of Geraldine within the Waitaha - Canterbury region, from the Southern Alps to the coast, with access to outdoor activities, local shopping, cultural events and vibrant arts scene. I am able to enjoy as many as I can.

In Aotearoa embodied in two cultural principles, is the Kaitiaki-tanga the concept of guardianship of the environment, resources and people.

The Manaaki-tanga is the concept of caring for others, showing respect and to nurture, including looking after physical and mental well being.

As we work with patients, these principles allow us to deliver practical solutions and honour our unique culture.

Ngā mihi nui, warmest regards

Vanessa is a highly valued member of our physiotherapy practice and an integral part of our reception team. She is caring, hardworking, and consistently goes out of her way to make patients feel welcome and supported from the moment they walk through the door.

George.

Let’s meet Trish.

Hi, I’m Trish. I originally hail from County Antrim, Northern Ireland. I completed my physiotherapy training in Sheffield, England.

I began my career working as a new graduate back home before the travel bug took hold and led me to New Zealand, where I have now been living for over 15 years.

I work across the Geraldine clinic and the Pleasant Point satellite clinic and truly enjoy being part of both teams.

I am passionate about taking a holistic approach to injury management and patient care, and I value the collaborative input and expertise of my colleagues in achieving the best outcomes for patients.

Outside of work, I’m kept busy chasing after my two daughters, Niamh (10) and Ava (8). The girls, my husband Dan and I live on the family sheep farm in Totara Valley, enjoying all that a rural life has to offer.

I love spending time outdoors walking, hiking, and exploring New Zealand with family and friends. My next adventure goal is tackling another Great Walk — the Hump bridge Track, with my walking group The Sherpettes!

________________________

Trish has a consistently positive presence at both the Geraldine and Pleasant Point clinics. She is professional, reliable and genuinely cares about her patients.

We are very proud to have Trish working for us.

Let’s meet Jo.

Jo Hewson is an experienced physiotherapist who graduated from the University of Otago in 1998, holding a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPhty) and a Postgraduate Certificate of Physiotherapy (P.G.C Phty).

She has been working in Geraldine since 2005 and brings a wealth of knowledge and a practical, patient-centred approach to her work.

Jo enjoys all aspects of musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy and has a special interest in acupuncture and breathing re-education, which she integrates into treatment to support recovery, movement, and overall wellbeing.

She believes that smiles and movement make some of the best medicine, and strives to create a positive, encouraging environment for every patient.

Jo lives in Woodbury with her partner and two children. Outside of work, she enjoys tramping, biking, gardening, photography, and following her children’s sports, and values an active lifestyle—both personally and professionally.

I enjoy our clinical catch up sessions and it’s always nice to hear giggles and laughter from her room.

Jo is a passionate clinician and does 110% for all of her patients.

We are very lucky to have Jo in the practice and we appreciate the great work she does.

Let’s meet Bev, our practice manager and often the first person you will interact with.

Bev has 34 years experience across Dental, Medical, and Physiotherapy administration—so there’s not much she hasn’t seen (or solved).

Born and bred in Geraldine, Bev prides herself on strong community values, practical know how, and a people first approach to healthcare.

Married with two children—one studying to be a dentist and the other about to start a building apprenticeship.

Bev is equally at home juggling family life and keeping a busy practice running smoothly.

Outside of work, she’s a fan of crime novels, women’s health and wellbeing, and finding small ways to make a positive difference in someone’s day. Helping people isn’t just part of the job for Bev—it’s what she genuinely loves to do.

Bev is a very important member of our team. We appreciate all she does for us with keeping the practice running smoothly.

What an exciting start to 2026!!!

Meet Olivia – Our New Physiotherapist!

I’m really excited to be joining the team at Geraldine Physiotherapy.

I’ve been working as a physiotherapist for the past five years, after completing a BSc in Sport Science and an MSc in Physiotherapy in the UK.

Since then, I’ve also undertaken postgraduate studies specialising in the lower limb, which I’m particularly passionate about.

I moved to New Zealand just over a year ago, spending most of that time in Nelson before making the move to Fairlie a few months ago.

Outside of work, I’m always looking for ways to stay active — whether it’s playing football, running, taking on triathlons, or pushing myself at CrossFit.

I’m really looking forward to getting to know everyone here at Geraldine Physiotherapy and working with all of our lovely clients to help them achieve their goals!

Both Liz and I are excited to have a new team member.

Please contact us if you would like to see Olivia for an appointment.

Most of us are back on board tomorrow in the clinic for the start of 2026.

We hope everyone had a safe and lovely Christmas and happy new year.

We are looking forward to 2026, as we have a new staff member and some new ideas for 2026.

Ps: I’m not back until the end of the month. Currently spending some quality time with my daughter in chilly Austria, -9 degrees today, -12 for the rest if the week!!
