Making sure pēpi are safe every sleep is super important – it can save lives. Check out the new easy to follow guidelines on how to do this, developed by Hapai Te Hauora - Maori Public Health in consultation with both clinical experts and whānau.

There are just four steps to remember for every sleep:
1. Face up, Face clear - sleep pēpi on their back for every sleep, with nothing near their face like toys, loose blankets, cords or pillows
2. Flat and firm - pēpi are safest in their own flat, firm bed with firm sides, like a wahakura, cot, or bassinet.
3. Free - Pēpi are safest and well when they are in an environment that supports breastfeeding and is smoke, v**e, alcohol, drug and harm-free.
4. Fathers and family - everyone in the whānau helps keep pēpi safe while they sleep and supports them to stay well.

We know it can feel worrying hearing about measles in the community. Here's our Chief Nurse Dr Zoë Tipa to talk about how we're working alongside other providers and communities, making it easier for whānau to get immunised and protect our youngest tamariki.

If you have questions or want to know where to get immunised, call PlunketLine on 0800 933 922, talk to your Plunket nurse, or speak with your GP or local health provider. We’re here to help 💙

With measles spreading, Whānau Āwhina Plunket is offering MMR vaccine for the entire whānau at 20 of our clinics around the motu, and you don’t need to be enrolled with us.

The best way to protect your tamariki (and yourself) from measles is with two doses of the MMR vaccine. Our Plunket immunisation clinics can vaccinate the whole whānau: pēpi (from 12 months), tamariki, rangatahi, and adults.

Check out our website to find a clinic near you or call us on 0800 184 803. https://www.plunket.org.nz/plunket-and-you/services-we-offer/immunisation-at-plunket/

Whānau Āwhina Plunket is now offering measles vaccinations to the families of babies who are too young to receive it themselves.
