E rere ana nga mihi aroha, nau mai ki toku wharangi,
Aro Heart will provide natural quality kawakawa pani - balm which is versatile and helps to aide various skin ailments such as: eczema, dermatitis, dry/flaky skin, chapped lips and more. Ka tuia oku hononga ki Te Tairawhiti, ki Te Aitanga a Mahaki me Te Whanau a Apanui hoki. Aro Heart is my new small business, tuning into love and providing you with kawakawa pani skin balm. These are natural, handcrafted, created with love, using locally and sustainably harvested kawakawa and beeswax. This pani - balm is versatile and helps to aide various skin ailments such as: eczema, dermatitis, chapped lips, dry/flaky skin, cracked heels, minor cuts, sores, soothe itch and is moisturizing. Finished product is poured into recyclable glass jars and paper bag if needed. I was born and raised in Te Tairawhiti for the majority of my life, here is where the discovery of my passions for te taiao - environment came to fruition. I am blessed to have been able to delve into our native rongoā, fauna and flora within the last 6 years. Having obtained my Diploma in Rongoā Māori in 2020 from Te Wananga o Aotearoa - Whirikoka with Margaret Goldsmith as my mentor. It brings me joy to be able to provide authentic rongoā - holistic medicine through traditional lenses, implementing tikanga Māori. Karakia is used to harvest and to finish a batch, giving acknowledgement to our whenua - land and the intention of helping others. I am able to confidently identify kawakawa, harvest sustainably to encourage regrowth, identifying healthy plants and from suitable locations. I am growing into maramataka, aiming to harvest in tune with the moon and to enhance the energy. The kawakawa is then steeped in oil using two methods, a heated technique and cold processed submerged in oil for 6 weeks. All utensils used are specifically for rongoā preparations, using glass and other plastic alternatives where possible, equipment is sterilized and surfaces are disinfected during the creating process. Nga mihi aroha ki a koutou katoa e tautoko i oku mahi. Thank you all for your support. Naku noa,
Kerry Kanuta - Boyd
