Mahi a Atua

Mahi a Atua Kia pakari ai tō tātou Mātauranga Māori i roto i te mahi hauora. Whaia te toi huarewa hei tautoko, Mauri ora! This page has been set up by Diana and Mark Kopua.

Mātauranga Māori training for the workforce, the community, whānau…for everyone. Personal and/or professional development like no other. Mahi a Atua was developed by Diana (nee Rangihuna). Her and her husband Mark, and the Te Kurahuna team, introduced Mahi a Atua to the Tairawhiti and Hauraki. It has become a 'way of being' that can be interpreted in many ways. The common element to Mahi a Atua as an intervention is the deliberate effort to work as a collective to reinstate Matauranga Maori into health and non health services.

Te Kurahuna offer our heartfelt thanks to Waikawa Marae and the Waikawa community for the aroha, manaakitanga, and steadfast support you have shown in holding this Mahi a Atua kaupapa. Your generosity created a space where our pūrākau, our mātauranga, and our collective wairua could be honoured. We are humbled by the way you welcomed us, nurtured us, and allowed the stories of our tīpuna to settle into the walls, the whenua, and the hearts of all who gathered. Your presence reminded us that true transformation is grounded in whakapapa, in relationships, and in the courage to return to our Indigenous ways of knowing and being.

To all the tauira who now stand as Mataora, and to our dedicated team and everyone who offered their hands, hearts, and energy to this kaupapa, we acknowledge you with deep gratitude. Your willingness to engage with Mahi a Atua not just as a practice but as a way of thinking, seeing, and relating has breathed life into this work. We are moved by your courage, your curiosity, and your commitment to healing in ways that uplift whānau, hapū, and communities. Thank you for trusting the process, for holding the kaupapa with integrity, and for helping us carry this living, breathing wairua of Mahi a Atua into the future.
