Filipino migrant workers (OFWs) face significant challenges when trying to care for their families’ health back home:
-They cannot join medical consultations while working abroad.
-They struggle to book appointments for their loved ones in the Philippines.
-They have little to no visibility on diagnoses, medications, or follow-up plans.
-Families at home may receive inconsistent or delayed care.

The distance creates stress, uncertainty, and major gaps in healthcare coordination.

Synergy Care is a booking platform that connects doctors and patients and facilitates virtual consultations. It is part of the telehealth ecosystem by enabling online medical appointments.

📍The flu vaccine is crucial for several reasons:

Prevention of Influenza: The primary purpose of the flu vaccine is to prevent influenza, a contagious respiratory illness that can cause mild to severe symptoms and even lead to hospitalization or death.

Protecting Vulnerable Populations: Vaccination is especially important for people at high risk of serious complications from the flu, such as young children, elderly adults, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic health conditions. By getting vaccinated, you also help protect these vulnerable groups.

Reducing Flu Severity: Even if you contract the flu after vaccination, the vaccine can reduce the severity of your illness, decreasing the likelihood of severe symptoms and complications.

Decreasing the Spread: Widespread vaccination helps reduce the overall prevalence of flu in the community, lowering the chances of transmission and protecting those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

Reducing Healthcare Burden: Flu-related complications can place a significant burden on healthcare systems. Vaccination helps reduce the number of flu cases, thereby easing the strain on healthcare resources and allowing better care for other patients.

Economic Benefits: By preventing flu-related illness, the vaccine helps reduce absenteeism from work and school, minimizing productivity losses and economic impact.

Public Health Strategy: Annual flu vaccination is a key component of public health strategies to prevent seasonal flu outbreaks and manage influenza epidemics effectively.

Herd Immunity: When a significant portion of the population is vaccinated, it contributes to herd immunity, making it more difficult for the virus to spread and protecting those who are unvaccinated or have weaker immune systems.

Continuous Protection: The flu virus evolves over time, and the vaccine is updated annually to match circulating strains. Getting vaccinated each year ensures you have the most effective protection against current flu viruses.

The flu vaccine is a safe and effective way to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your community from the flu and its potentially severe consequences.

Hand hygiene is essential during winter for several reasons:

Increased Incidence of Illness: Winter is a peak season for respiratory illnesses, including the common cold, flu, and now, COVID-19. Good hand hygiene helps prevent the spread of these infections.

Close Contact: People spend more time indoors and in close contact with others during the winter months. This close proximity increases the likelihood of transmitting germs through touch.

Dry Skin: Cold weather can cause dry, cracked skin, which can harbour germs. Regular handwashing with proper moisturising can help maintain skin integrity and reduce the risk of infection.

Survival of Pathogens: Many viruses, including influenza, thrive in colder, low-humidity environments. Proper hand hygiene reduces the chance of these pathogens spreading from surfaces to individuals.

Holiday Gatherings: Winter often includes holidays and social gatherings where people come together, increasing the risk of spreading germs. Effective hand hygiene practices help protect yourself and others during these times.

Touching the Face: People tend to touch their face more frequently in winter, adjusting scarves, hats, and wiping runny noses. Clean hands reduce the risk of transferring germs to the face, where they can enter the body.

By maintaining good hand hygiene, especially during winter, you can significantly reduce the risk of infections and protect your health and the health of those around you.
