A little update of what’s been happening behind the scenes recently 🪄
The past few months have been focussed on making BFL future proof. Despite rising costs of well, everything, we’re committed to continuing to offer an affordable way for everyone to access books, no matter where you live.
So here’s what we’ve been up to as we plan out the rest of 2026!
1. We hired our first staff member!
This is a huge step towards making BFL more sustainable long-term, and an incredible help in particular as a disabled business owner - and as a bonus, means we’ve already achieved our biggest goal for 2026!
2. We launched our bookish gift range
And as we grow, we’re excited to be supporting more NZ small businesses and creators, and providing high quality bookish items that aren’t AI designed, while reaching new audiences of book lovers.
3. We’re pausing our monthly fundraisers
Our monthly fundraisers have raised nearly $15,000since 2021, but to ensure we aren’t overcommitting ourselves and are well prepared for anything the year may bring, we’re temporarily hitting pause for a few months.
4. Exploring more chances to see us in person!
We’re finding more opportunities to get offline and away from the algorithm this year. Keep an eye out for us at Ages of Pages in May!
We’ve had a fantastic start to the year, and can’t wait to see what the rest of 2026 brings.
