Sarah’s Day – Connecting Minds for Brain Recovery

What an incredible day we recently had on March 6th! Over 50 people came together at Innovation Park to gain knowledge, connect with others, and honour the legacy of Sarah Lillas. 💙
A huge thank you to our 10 amazing speakers, who generously shared their expertise and lived experiences to support our mission of person-centred brain recovery. Your contributions made the day truly memorable.
We’re also deeply grateful to ĀKI for supporting our mahi, values, and vision, and for joining Debby and me in grounding the day through karakia, waiata, and shared reflection.
We’re already excited about what’s in store for training options in 2027. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to attend.

🧠 Brain Injury Recovery in Action!

In June and July, the NeuroConnect team were proud to deliver education sessions for Brain Injury Waikato—first in Hamilton and then in Cambridge.

We explored how exercise supports function and wellbeing after brain injury, with practical tips tailored to all stages of recovery.

To wrap things up, we got everyone moving with a fun, inclusive seated exercise session – suitable for every age and every ability. It was all about giving it a go, connecting with your body, and taking that next step in your journey.

A huge thank you to Brain Injury Waikato for having us, and to all the amazing attendees for your energy and participation. 🙌

It’s been one month since we lost our beloved co-director, colleague, and friend, Sarah Lillas.

Her absence is deeply felt every day - in our team, in our mahi, and in the lives of the families she supported with such heart.

Sarah’s legacy lives on in the work we do and the community she helped shape.

Forever part of the NeuroConnect whānau ❤️
