Stress is a common part of modern-day life, and even more so when you work in healthcare.

Even though it's common, it's important to recognise and manage stress early, because if left unchecked, it can eventually lead to burnout šŸ‘Ž

Burnout can take a long time to recover from, and sadly, many people end up leaving their professions altogether because of it.

We all experience stress differently, depending on our individual circumstances. Here are just a few examples of how it can show up šŸ‘‡

šŸ”ø Headaches, fatigue, breathlessness and skin irritations
šŸ”ø Loss of confidence, irritability, depression, and feeling disconnected
šŸ”ø Worrying, muddled thinking, nightmares, and negativity
šŸ”ø Loss of appetite, insomnia, eating more, drinking and smoking more

Some people cope with stress better than others. The way that you live your life can have a big impact on your health, well-being and how well you handle stress.

Want to know more ways you can manage stress? Grab my free guide - 7 ways to help you become more energised - it's full of helpful reminders like the one pictured 😊

I started something new this month… or perhaps something I should have prioritised earlier.

I’ve joined the gym again and started focusing on strength šŸ’Ŗ

For years, I’ve stayed active.
Walking, moving, keeping busy.
But I realised I hadn’t been doing enough intentional strength work.

And then came the Assault Bike, introduced by my personal trainer… šŸ˜‚

Now, if you’ve never seen one before, it looks innocent enough - a stationary bike with some moving handles. Haha, don’t be fooled. It is not your friend!

By the third sprint, my legs were burning, my arms were barely holding on, and I was starting to think five minutes might actually be a unit of time invented purely for torture.

But when I walked out of the gym, I felt… strong.
Tired, yes. But stronger.

And it reminded me of something important.

āž”ļø Strength isn’t about pushing yourself to extremes - it’s about supporting your body for the years ahead.

From our 40s onward, we naturally lose muscle.
But the good news is - our bodies respond incredibly well when we start again.

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

Just small, consistent steps.

So I’ll leave you with this:

šŸ‘‰ What’s one small way you could add strength into your week?

🧔

We often think improving our mood requires something big.

More time.
More energy.
More motivation.

But sometimes, it’s much simpler than that 🧔

I was listening to a piece from Vanessa King (Head of Psychology at Action for Happiness) about Active April, and one idea really stood out.

It’s not about doing more exercise.
It’s about gently increasing the intensity of what you’re already doing.

When we move our bodies just a little beyond our usual baseline - even briefly - our body releases chemicals that support brain health, boost our mood, and strengthen our immunity.

Not extremes.
Not pressure.
Just a small shift.

That might look like:
šŸ”ø Walking a little faster for a few minutes
šŸ”ø Holding a stretch slightly longer
šŸ”ø Doing a few extra repetitions
šŸ”ø Or simply starting, if you haven’t yet

You don’t need to overhaul your routine.

Just ask yourself: ā€œWhat would a small step up from here look like?ā€

Because these small, intentional moments don’t just support your body… they support your mind too.

And over time, they really do add up šŸ’›

If you’re at a bit of a crossroads right now, you’re not alone in that feeling.

There’s a season many women move through that doesn’t come with an announcement. It often arrives quietly.

Life begins to look a little different šŸ’›

Roles start to shift.
Things that once felt certain begin to feel less clear.
And somewhere in the middle of it all, there’s a sense that something is changing.

Not because something is wrong.
Simply because something feels different.

This can feel unsettling. Even uncomfortable šŸ’š

But it’s also a moment that invites reflection.

A chance to pause and gently ask yourself: ā€œWhat matters to me now?ā€

If this resonates, you’re very welcome to join my newsletter community.

It’s where I share more reflections like this, along with gentle guidance to help you navigate these transitions in a way that feels steady, supportive, and true to you. Join via my website (or message me).

There’s a moment many women in their 50s experience…
and it often arrives quietly.

You’ve spent years being everything to everyone.
Holding things together. Being needed. Being relied on.

And then one day, something shifts.

Not because anything is wrong.
But because something feels… different.

You start asking questions like:
ā€œWho am I now?ā€
Or perhaps... ā€œWho do I want to be?ā€

This is the work I find myself coming back to again and again with the women I support.

Not fixing.
Not pushing.
But creating space to reflect, reset, and reconnect with who you are now 🧔

If you’ve been feeling that quiet nudge lately… you’re not alone.

I share more reflections like this (and early access to my upcoming online programme Reset & Rise) with my email community.
