How excited are we that our next clinic on October 13th marks our one year anniversary! We are delighted to reach this early milestone going from strength to strength thanks to the dedicated volunteer team of Osteopaths and the support of our kaitiaki , but our clinic would not be the success it is without You, the parents who entrust your mokopuna to our care. We are grateful and our hearts are full.

Did you know?...👀 That some osteopaths are trained to directly treat your organs? 😮

This is called VISCERAL OSTEOPATHY 💁‍♀️✨

Even organs can hold tension via their ligamentous attachments to other musculoskeletal structures in the body. This can inhibit the natural rhythms and motility of said organs and result in functional disease.

By gently releasing these connective tissues, the osteopath can address such conditions as gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), irritable bowel (IBS), and even infertility caused by mechanical restriction.

This is a very specialised subset of osteopathy and requires a substantial amount of post-graduate training.👨‍🎓

✔️ There is much that is conventional in the way that osteopaths are trained and taught to practice. We can make conventional diagnoses that seek to establish WHAT has gone wrong.. 👀

But osteopaths want to know WHY it is not right! This is when we refer to the 'Art within the Science' 🍃✨💕. We appreciate that every person is completely individual in the way that they are built and designed with a history of different diets, lifestyles and injury histories. As well as emotional factors!

When you choose to visit an osteopath NO TWO TREATMENTS will ever be the same 😮! Osteopaths have a vast array of skills and techniques that can be tailored specifically to suit an individual on any given day. Always done in a way that is most appropriate for you and your body! ❤️

"An osteopath is a human engineer, who should understand all the laws governing his engine and thereby master disease." - Andrew Taylor Still

Hi, meet Andrew Taylor Still! ✨🙋‍♂️

Working as a physician in the 1800s, AT Still witnessed sometimes harmful and ineffective practices (including giving patients arsenic and o***m!) resulting in much suffering and death. The loss of his three children to spinal meningitis cemented his focus on discovering the root of disease rather than curing symptoms.

AT Still pioneered the concept of "wellness'' and treating illness from a context of the whole body. He proposed that the alignment and balance of the musculoskeletal system directly influenced the body's ability to function and heal itself via it's relationship to blood and nerve flow.

And thus osteopathy was born! 🙌 His success in treating patients gained much popularity and many people became interested in learning his methods. There are now schools all over the world teaching osteopathic medicine with our numbers growing every year.

Osteopathy continues to prove itself as a SAFE, GENTLE and EFFECTIVE form of treatment and we look forward to telling you more over the coming week!

Very interesting. How sugar increases inflammation and contributes to pain.
