“Their Majesties King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand made a state visit to New Zealand in August 1962 (B.E. 2505).”

A State luncheon was held at the Parliament Buildings in Wellington on 20 August 1962.

They visited Tauranga, Rotorua and experienced Māori-cultural performances and local hot springs.

They also visited cities such as Hamilton and Auckland, toured military/naval bases (e.g., Devonport Naval Base), and viewed industrial exhibitions in Christchurch and Dunedin.

On 24 August, a special Royal Concert was held in Christchurch in their honour, conducted by John Hopkins, featuring works by local composer Douglas Lilburn.

Their departure from New Zealand was on 26 August 1962, departing from Christchurch.
