It's been a hard year Hawkes Bay.......

Christmas can be a bloody hard time for some, especially those who are due to have the first Christmas without a loved one and if you are one of them check out below because Gumboot Friday has your back!! Don't forget there are so many support services out there and people who CARE ABOUT YOU!!!

Check in on your loved ones, family, friends, colleagues and neighbours!! If you know they'll be alone this Christmas then invite them over, that itself will make a huge difference to their mental health.

Appreciate everyone's support and next year there's some exciting things to come Hawkes Bay!!

Sone Hawkes bay people have been doing it incredibly tough lately and today I read a heartbreaking story of a local man who couldn't do it anymore, the cyclone was his Tipping point. Everyone needs to know but especially men, reaching out is the strongest thing you can do if you aren't in the best space, if things have you down etc theres nothing at all weak about doing what's best for you and reaching out, whether that's to your partner, a friend or a trained counselor etc FREE call or txt 1737 anytime to have a confidential chat and make a plan for moving forward. We all have tough times and support is key in these times!! KIA KAHA Hawkes Bay

Jacinda Ardern where's the money gone? Our government committed to fixing our mental health system 3yrs ago and what's there to show for it? No extra beds, barely a drop in statistics and $1.9Billion where exactly?? Had you contributed 5 or 10million to Gumboot Friday there'd be a noticeable difference already. No other government is going to help either let's be really clear here, they'll be quick to throw stones but they won't do anything when they can.......... THIS IS ON US NZ, we need to be the change, we need to make the change!!!

TOGETHER as the people, as communities need to step up, remove the stigma, check in on our family friends and loved ones and TOGETHER we can make the change that we so desperately need to stop others dealing with the loss, to stop others feeling that it's the only option and to HELP others know that there's people who give a s**t, HELP them know that there's a way through and HELP them know that it's ok to not be ok and that it's perfectly acceptable to ask for help. It's actually the strongest thing someone can do!!!

So check in on your loved ones, support those who need it and TOGETHER we can and we WILL save lives!!!
