When you get pelvic balance, you keep it. We can do more releases if you would like, but most women need just one session to get total pelvic balance. This drastically improves their comfort and chances of a natural birth ❤️❤️❤️

What an honor 🙏❤️

Today Margaret and her youngest son, Phoenix went to Hau Te Kura Hapū Wananga Partners Hui @ Whare Kahureremoana.

They had the honour of hearing hui guest speaker, Joanna Rosina midwife and facilitator at .nz share her wisdom about optimal positioning for pēpi during pregnancy & labour and preparing for birth. 🌼

Margaret was also able to share information about the kaupapa/initiative behind our Compassionate Survey; this is a survey we launched late last year for our whānau to provide feedback with their experience through loss during pregnancy, labour/birth and postpartum while receiving care through Hawkes Bay Maternity.

What an absolute treat to be surrounded by powerful wāhine who are advocating for our māmā and taking care of whānau hauora/wellbeing through pregnancy, birth and postpartum - Phoenix loved it too 😉

Being sure to support your body into balance allowing optimal space for baby also massively helps an ECV to be more successful ☺️###

𝗙𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗕𝗮𝗯𝘆: 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗖𝗩) 🤰🔄

If your baby is breech near the end of pregnancy, your provider may suggest External Cephalic Version (ECV)—a hands-on technique to help baby turn head-down. 👶➡️🔄

💡 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗘𝗖𝗩?
A trained provider applies gentle but firm pressure on your belly to guide your baby into an optimal position for birth. It’s usually done around 37 weeks, when baby still has room to move but is less likely to flip back.

📊 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀:
ECV works about 50-60% of the time, depending on factors like amniotic fluid levels, baby’s position, and how relaxed your body is during the procedure. Some moms find it uncomfortable, while others say it’s no big deal!

🌿 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲?
Many moms use hypnosis, relaxation techniques, and movement exercises to encourage baby to turn naturally. Staying calm and relaxed during the procedure may also increase the chances of success!

If your baby is breech, know that you have options! 💛 Have you had an ECV before? Share your experience in the comments! ⬇️

While this photo shows the amazing first moments of a newborn's life, it is also showing an intervention in action. This baby's cord was clamped immediately at birth. They did not wait for the cord to finish pulsating to deliver the blood that was meant to go to baby. You can actually see the healthy blood in the cord that was trying to get to baby (notice the large "roped" appearance of the cord). When the cord is empty (and the blood made it to the baby) the whole thing would have the appearance the same as the small white section near the doctor's hand.

For more information on delayed (or optimal) cord clamping, please see this post: {http://birthwithoutfearblog.com/2013/02/15/cord-clamping-give-me-all-my-blood/}

Absolutely this!!!! ###

Did you know that your baby’s position in your uterus can make a big difference in how your labour unfolds?

Encouraging an optimal position can help labour progress more smoothly and comfortably.

Staying active, using upright and forward-leaning positions, and being mindful of your posture can all make a difference.
Small changes throughout pregnancy can help your baby settle into the best spot for birth!
