The treatment and care you receive will be of the highest standard and our staff will do their best to help you return to good health as quickly and as comfortably as possible. At Royston, we are committed to providing high quality care having regard for your individual requirements. You will experience particular attention from our staff aimed to ensure you enjoy a superior level of care, comfort and convenience. Our nursing staff are experienced health professionals committed to providing care for patients and their families in a compassionate, personal manner. They appreciate that a stay in hospital is often a major event in their patients' lives. That is why they make a special effort to get to know the people under their care and attend personally to individual patient requirements. Acurity Hospitals are accredited by DAA Group to rigorous EQuIP4 Accreditation Standards. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to continuous quality improvement in all aspects of healthcare. In 2014 the ACC Workplace Safety Management Programme 'tertiary level' status was achieved. Mandatory Ministry of Health Certification is undertaken 3 yearly. We also offer a warm welcome to all visitors and invite those considering private medical and surgical treatment to meet with staff and view the hospital facilities. The Royston Centre, adjoining the hospital, provides specialist consulting rooms as well as physiotherapy and radiology facilities (including private MRI and CT). This is why Royston is the choice for so many Hawke's Bay people when it comes to specialist surgical treatment or medical care. The Acurity Health Group are proud to be members of the New Zealand Private Surgical Hospitals Association (NZPSHA) who represent the interests of private surgical hospitals within New Zealand.

We were honoured to welcome Julian Loh, QIC Sustainability Manager for Climate, Nature and Innovation, and Scott Pickering, Evolution Chair, to this year's He Autaia Awards evening. Julian and Scott presented the QIC Innovation Awards (Safety Category) to Tanja Klumpers (Evolution Healthcare) and Kerri Cooley (Royston Hospital) for the outstanding achievements and continued rollout of the WebPAS Project.

The WebPAS Project was the runner-up for Hospitals and Day Surgeries in the 2024 He Autaia Quality Awards for the implementation of the Patient Journey Boards within Royston Hospital and Wakefield Hospital. Since then, it has been rolled out across BirthcareParnell and Anglesea Hospital, and has been further implemented at Royston Hospital and Wakefield Hospital, creating enhanced patient care across the sites by providing visibility of the patient's stage of care, from triage to wards, and who is leading their care.

The project was then entered in the QIC Innovation Awards held in August this year, in which they won the Safety Category.

Congratulations to the Evolution Healthcare IT & Royston & Wakefield hospital teams who worked to develop the e-whiteboard project. A well-deserved recognition! 🎉💙

🌏 National ShakeOut Day – Thursday 16 October

This year, we’re joining thousands of New Zealanders to ensure we are prepared for an earthquake or tsunami.

Why it matters:
✔ Emergencies can happen anytime, with little or no warning
✔ Practising your response builds confidence and reduces panic
✔ Being prepared helps protect you, your whānau, and your community

Now’s the time to talk about your plan—at home, at work, or with your wider community. Every step we take to prepare today makes us stronger tomorrow.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2025 is here in Aotearoa, reminding us that every action we take to look after our wellbeing matters.

This year, we’re encouraged to focus on the Five Ways to Wellbeing:
✨ Connect – reach out and strengthen relationships
✨ Give – show kindness in small or big ways
✨ Be Active – move your body and boost your mood
✨ Take Notice – pause, breathe, and appreciate the moment
✨ Keep Learning – grow, discover, and challenge yourself

💬 Mental health touches all of us. Whether you’re supporting someone else or taking time for yourself, remember you are not alone. Together we can build a kinder, more connected and resilient community.

🎀 This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, let’s talk about hope, treatment, and personalised care. 💗

We wear pink this October to honour the fighters, celebrate the survivors, and remember the loved ones we’ve lost.
It’s also a time to talk openly about breast cancer - about early detection, access to care, and the power of community.

✨ 1 in 8 women will face breast cancer in her lifetime
✨ Early detection can save lives - don’t put off your mammogram
✨ You are not alone on this journey

At our sister Bowen Icon Cancer Centre, we’re here to walk beside you with personalised care and a dedicated team who understands. Whether you’re looking for information, treatment options, or simply someone to talk to - we’re here.
