Royston Hospital

Royston Hospital Royston Hospital is the number one provider of private surgical services in the Hawke's Bay region.

Supported by the very latest technology, equipment and facilities Royston Hospital provides the most comprehensive range of private surgical facilities in the Hawke’s Bay area. The treatment and care you receive will be of the highest standard and our staff will do their best to help you return to good health as quickly and as comfortably as possible. At Royston, we are committed to providing high

quality care having regard for your individual requirements. You will experience particular attention from our staff aimed to ensure you enjoy a superior level of care, comfort and convenience. Our nursing staff are experienced health professionals committed to providing care for patients and their families in a compassionate, personal manner. They appreciate that a stay in hospital is often a major event in their patients' lives. That is why they make a special effort to get to know the people under their care and attend personally to individual patient requirements. Acurity Hospitals are accredited by DAA Group to rigorous EQuIP4 Accreditation Standards. This demonstrates our ongoing commitment to continuous quality improvement in all aspects of healthcare. In 2014 the ACC Workplace Safety Management Programme 'tertiary level' status was achieved. Mandatory Ministry of Health Certification is undertaken 3 yearly. We also offer a warm welcome to all visitors and invite those considering private medical and surgical treatment to meet with staff and view the hospital facilities. The Royston Centre, adjoining the hospital, provides specialist consulting rooms as well as physiotherapy and radiology facilities (including private MRI and CT). This is why Royston is the choice for so many Hawke's Bay people when it comes to specialist surgical treatment or medical care. The Acurity Health Group are proud to be members of the New Zealand Private Surgical Hospitals Association (NZPSHA) who represent the interests of private surgical hospitals within New Zealand.

Royston Hospital is leading the way in advanced cancer care in Hawke’s Bay, with its first prostate cancer patient treated using low dose-rate (LDR) brachytherapy.

This minimally invasive procedure uses tiny radioactive “seeds,” helping patients recover faster and return to everyday life sooner - a promising step forward for local treatment options.

Our sterile services staff play a vital role in ensuring our patients receive the best, safest care.

Their work often goes unseen, but they play a role in making sure our surgeons have the instruments they need. They are the first line of defence in infection control, need to have great attention to detail and play a big role in making our operating theatres run efficiently.

The Easter long weekend is a time to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy moments that matter most - and maybe indulge in a little extra chocolate along the way.

Whether you’re sharing sweet treats with loved ones, getting outdoors, or simply taking a well-earned break, we hope your weekend is safe, restful, and full of joy.

Happy National Doctor’s Day.

Doctors don’t just change lives today, they inspire the next generation.

Captured at the Royston Hospital Medtronic Hugo™ surgical robot launch event, this moment reflects inspiration in action - as a young family member of one of our staff looks on, inspired by the specialists who serve our community every day.

🌈 One Month On: Living Our Pride Pledge

In February, Evolution Healthcare took the Pride Pledge, a public commitment to ensuring LGBTTQIAP+ (Rainbow) people are safe, visible, and included in all aspects of life. Taking the Pride Pledge means using our voice to actively support and celebrate rainbow communities, in our workplaces and in the care we provide.

For some, taking the pledge will feel deeply meaningful. For others, it may simply affirm a shared commitment to treating people well. For us, it represents one of the many strands of our culture that weave together to make Evolution a great place to work and to support truly patient-centred care.

This month and onwards, our focus turns to action. We are:
• Continuing conversations across our sites about inclusive practice
• Reviewing policies and language to ensure they reflect best practice
• Building on the leadership already demonstrated within ABI (one of our Evolution companies) and across our teams

We’re honoured to stand alongside other organisations committed to rainbow inclusion across Aotearoa. This pledge reflects our values in action, particularly manaakitanga (integrity) and our belief that inclusive, respectful environments help people and communities thrive.

Pride is not just a moment - it’s an ongoing commitment.

Join us to experience the future of surgical innovation at Royston Hospital 🏥

Royston Hospital is proud to be the first in Hawke’s Bay to introduce the Hugo™ robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) system, in partnership with Medtronic.

We invite GPs and primary healthcare professionals to an exclusive live demonstration event to explore how robotic-assisted surgery is advancing patient care across urology, gynaecology, and general surgery. This technology supports greater surgical precision, minimally invasive procedures, faster recovery, and improved patient outcomes.

At this event, you will:
• Hear from Dr Kenny du Toit on robotic surgery referral pathways
• Speak with Medtronic clinical and technical specialists
• Learn how robotic-assisted surgery can support your patients
• Take part in a hands-on console skills challenge (with prizes)
• Network with Royston surgeons and colleagues
