Upper eyelid blepharoplasty can quietly brighten the eyes and ease that tired, heavy feeling / results that look natural and feel light

02/12/2025

Quick rundown on blepharoplasty - upper eyelid surgery - in under a minute.

what is it?
A small procedure to remove excess skin (and sometimes fat) from the eyelids. It lifts heaviness, opens the eyes, and restores your natural lid contour not a ‘new face’, just a fresher version of you.

Who’s it for?
People with heavy lids, hooding, makeup smudging, lashes hidden under skin, or reduced peripheral vision.
And yes, it can be cosmetic and functional.

How long does it take?
About 45 minutes under local anaesthetic. You’re awake, comfortable, and home the same day.

Recovery?
Expect swelling and bruising for a few days. Rest & Ice packs, a bit of Netflix, then back to day to day around the 7 day mark. Stitches out at one week. Final settling over 4–6 weeks.”

Scarring?
Hidden in the natural eyelid crease, once healed, most people can’t find it.

Results?
Lighter lids, brighter eyes, better vision if the skin was blocking it, and a ‘you look rested’ vibe.
If your lids feel heavy or in the way, this is a good place to start.

Chalazion = blocked eyelid oil gland.
Not dangerous, just annoying.
Warm compresses help most… but the stubborn ones?
That’s where I step in. 👀🔥

Great speakers, awesome conversations, and plenty of momentum.

RANZCO Melbourne - yesterday was BIG ✨

Celebrating our newest Fellows, reconnecting with so many brilliant colleagues, and giving my talk on unconscious bias.

There’s something powerful about naming the things we’ve all felt but rarely say out loud.
The old norms.
The hidden assumptions.
The way leadership still has edges.

Yesterday reminded me exactly why these conversations matter
Here are the highlights. What a day. 🔥
