New series of Pregnancy Yoga Classes, beginning Monday evenings 6.00 - 7.15 pm, from July 25.
Classes are held at Taruna College, 33 Te Mata Peak Road, Havelock North.
Yoga during pregnancy helps to develop awareness of the body, breath and mind, and teaches us tools we can use to deepen the breath and calm the mind.
The asanas help to lubricate the joints, strengthen the spine and the pelvic floor muscles and improve the circulation, digestion, lymphatic and immune systems.
Pregnancy yoga helps to maintain a healthy posture and prepare the pregnant woman for the downward movement, opening and letting go that is required for birthing.
Specific yogic practices can help to soothe the sympathetic nervous system, calming the mind and all the body systems so that there is more harmony of hormones, and therefore a more content and healthy mum and baby.
Yoga empowers the pregnant woman, encourages healthy bonding between mum and baby, improves self-esteem of the mother, and is conducive to an easier and more satisfying birth experience for all.
The regular practice of Pregnancy Yoga can also contribute to the convalescence of the mum after the birth, leading to a shorter recovery time and possibly enhanced breastfeeding experience. Therefore contributing to overall health and wellbeing of the mum, and the entire family.
All bolsters, blankets, and yoga mats are supplied.
Cost: $80 for 4 classes in this series.
Please feel most welcome to contact Michele for enrolments, or if you would like any further information on these classes.
