Circl Athlete 003 // Maeve Williams

Many see the podium finishes and list of multisport accomplishments, but few see the daily dedication and rhythm of training. After making us a coffee, Maeve gave her dog Rosa a run down the street before meeting her 3x weekly swim crew at the pool. A swim workout not for the faint of heart led to a 15km interval run on the moody Wanaka lakefront. We chatted on how training itself is the reward, and how that time is such a gift within a busy life.

Finishing an early morning tagging along on Maeve’s training, the one word we’re left with: generous.

Circl Athlete 002 // Jules Vassalos

We joined Jules on an afternoon of training leading into her next Muy Thai fight. She gracefully transitions from her morning of personal training at the exquisite Tru Gym to an afternoon of high focus drills and sparing at the gritty Hurto Muy Thai Gym.

Jules shared her story of becoming a boxer, and ultimately a Muy Thai fighter, and how the daily discipline of training informs her life as a whole.

Between bright smiles and speaking deep insight, we watched Jules lock in to fight camp training and intensity.

in the books. What a journey.

I did not anticipate the marathon to be that difficult, nor that rewarding.

Five months ago I set my mind on this goal. From being a casual 3-5km a week runner, to running 4x per week slowing allowing the body to adapt to more and more load. It was an amazing process to watch.
