Great news that from this Saturday, some of our beautiful Queens Park will be reopened :-) Details below ....
We know everyone’s keen to hear when Queens Park will reopen. It’s a huge job and it’s going to take time, which is why we’ve decided to open it in sections.
The reopening will happen in three stages:
Stage 1 –This Saturday 🥳
We’ll be reopening the Animal Reserve, Te Moutere, the playground, and the Cheeky Llama area, up to the upper Queens Drive entrance (as shown on the map).
Stage 2 – Friday, 5 December:
Feldwick Gates to the Band Rotunda
Stage 3 – TBC asap:
The rest of the park will reopen.
The arborists and Parks team have been working incredibly hard to make this place safe again. A huge thank you to everyone for your patience and for staying away while this work is done.
Queens Park won’t look or feel the same for a long time. The landscape of virtually every part of our beautiful park has been altered, and in some cases it will be years before it resembles what it once was. It’s been pretty devastating for our team to see the scale of damage inflicted at Queens Park, and we expect it might be quite confronting for everybody when it opens. But part of nature is that it changes and evolves. This place remains special to all of us, it’s the heart of our city, and we’ll continue to make memories there ❤️
