When you’re grieving, the holidays can amplify the empty chair at the table, the traditions that feel impossible, and the pressure to “be festive” when your heart simply can’t.

If this season feels heavy for you, please remember you’re not doing it wrong. Grief doesn’t follow the calendar.

Take each moment as it comes. Protect your energy. Say no when you need to.
And know you’re not alone.

I’m very proud to be on the board of the FDANZ and work alongside Bradley SHAW Brad also does podcasts. And this article was a great listen.

Bradley Shaw has just made history as the youngest-ever President of the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand, an extraordinary milestone for someone who began his career in funeral service at just 16. Now in his early thirties and leading Gateway Funeral Services in Whakatāne and Kawerau, Brad brings deep experience, compassion, and a fresh perspective to the profession.

RNZ’s Nights programme spoke with Brad about his journey, his passion for serving families, and what this leadership role means for the future of funeral service in Aotearoa.
