šŸŖ¶šŸŖ»šŸššŸƒKeeping the kids entertained today with a home made scavenger hunt. They got some fresh air and exercise as they used problem solving and matching skills. They even extended the activity by making a scavenger hunt for me which included catching some ā€œoutside air.ā€ It is a tricky thing to tape to the paper, you need to release it very carefully whilst someone is ready with the tape. šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Does your little one struggle to make it through the day? We are 3/4 of the way through the term and most children are chronically overtired by now due to busy schedules and can really benefit from an earlier bedtime in order to catch up. You may be putting them to bed later as they don't seem tired at bedtime. This will just mean that their bodies have gone past tired and they have got a second wind making it much harder to settle. Making bedtime 15-30 min earlier might be all that is needed to get their body into a better rhythm.

If your child is scared of the dark a nightlight is a great idea. Just keep in mind that cooler colours like blue, green and white stop the body from producing melatonin (the sleep hormone)

Choose red, orange, pink or yellow and have it as dim as possible.

This last week has been hard, as this little cutie had her tonsils and adenoids out as well as getting grommets. She is recovering well and the change has been amazing. For the first time in her life she has been able to sleep without snoring, having pauses in her breathing, flapping around or falling out of bed. She has been falling asleep quickly at night as well as sleeping through. If your little one snores or mouth breathes on a regular basis without having a cold, get it checked out. As a sleep consultant I was aware that she shouldnā€™t be snoring like a tractor but have had to push hard to advocate for her needs.
