Hello lovely people. Thank you for all the new likes, I've been a very busy lady and feel guilty for not posting lately! Just thought I would pop a blurb about NAC aka N-acetyl cysteine. This is an amino acid that has been used by practitioners for years for its amazing antioxidant properties and many varied uses. It has just been taken off the retail market in the USA as it is classified as a medicine (note this occurs naturally in keratin - the protein in skin, hair and nails). It is used in the medical field for acetaminophen poisoning, and inflammatory respiratory conditions. What could cause respiratory concerns at the moment?? ____ I will leave you to fill in the blank as I'm sure you can guess. Up until now we could still purchase and use this in NZ, but yesterday I was told that the incredible GPX Cell Protect can no longer be manufactured with NAC a under MedSafe's ruling. There are still some practitioner brands available but this could change quickly. If you are an existing client and I have prescribed it to you in the past, be sure to stock up while you can. Glutathione is still available - NAC is the precursor to this and generally preferable. In the meantime, eat lots of broccoli, cauliflower, asparagus (tis the season), nuts, legumes, salmon and tuna to get your cysteine naturally.
