UPDATE:
The Heavy Swell Warning is still in effect for Wairarapa, covering the area from Turakirae Head to Mataikona. The warning period now extends from 9am, Friday 27th December, to 8am, Saturday 29th December.
Please take care near the coastline, avoid risky activities, and ensure you stay informed.

๐ HEAVY SWELL WARNING โ Wairarapa from Turakirae Head to Mataikona โ ๏ธ ๐
MetService has issued a Heavy Swell Warning for Turakirae Head to Mataikona from 10am Friday the 27th to 10am Saturday the 29th of December.
South to southwest combined waves are expected to rise to 6 metres on Friday and ease below warning criteria on Saturday.
โ ๏ธ These swells could bring debris and surface flooding to roads, especially around high tide.
๐Take care walking or driving along roads exposed to the sea during this time.
๐Surfers, divers, recreational reef fishers/surfcasters should be extra cautious and avoid exposed locations.
๐If you are planning on heading out into the water, check the marine forecast before you do, and if in doubt, do not go.

The highest risk period is typically at or within 1-2 hours of high tide. For areas between Turakirae Head to Mataikona, this is between 1pm and 5:30pm on Friday the 27th and 1:30am and 5:30am on Saturday the 28th.
