A bitter-sweet farewell to my time at Emily Jensen Nutrition Clinic! 🥹

As many of you know, I’ve been supporting clients across both as well as for a number of years now. From 17th November, I’ll no longer be taking bookings through EJN.

Amidst Covid lockdowns, I was lucky enough to step into the role of naturopath, nutritionist, and herbalist at Emily’s busy clinic while she went on maternity leave. It may have been our shared fear of pray mantises that sealed the deal (we used to call the barista downstairs for rescue missions 😅), but I’ve loved being a part of the EJN team ever since!

I’ll forever be grateful for the opportunity to grow and develop my skills with Emily’s support over the years. Thank you for your encouragement and trust in me 💚

As EJN closes its bookings, you can still check out Emily’s online . You’ll still find me here, in clinic at on the North Shore of Auckland or online.

To any of my lovely clients who’ve been working with me through , please flick me a message or email if you’d like to continue our work together. I’d love to keep supporting your health journey 🌿🥰

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again 🗣️

Are you sure you’re Estrogen dominant? …or are you just struggling to break down your normal levels of Estrogen? 🧐

Once Estrogen hormones have done their job (i.e. helped to build a healthy uterine lining), they then need to be broken down in order to then EXIT the body (via bowel motions and urination 🧻).

If you don’t break down and excrete your estrogen well enough, it has no where else to go but… back around the body! ♻️ Meanwhile your body keeps pumping out more estrogen (as it should!).

See some solutions to this problem:

🥦 Eat half a plate of veggies per meal.
🍷 Stop drinking alcohol
🧾 Avoid touching supermarket receipts
🍽️ Only eat and drink out of glass/metal containers.
💊 AVOID OVER-SUPPLEMENTING (you could make the issue worse)

Part 1: girl dinner, nutritionist version. 🎶 👧 🎶

(The last minute dinner you chuck together with minimal effort, that still has decent nutrition AND DOESN’T COST THE EARTH IN THIS FINANCIAL CRISIS) 🍱 💰

Send this to your travel buddies in preparation for your next big trip ✈️ 🧳

Nobody wants to be constipated on holiday! 😅

1 - Hydrate with Electrolytes 💦
If you’re exercising and sweating a lot, you’ll need to replace the fluids lost, ASAP. Your bowels are counting on it.

2- Insoluble Fibre at breakfast 🍎
You can still eat all the pastries in your hotel buffet but don’t forget about fibre while on holiday! Its job is to bulk and soften stools so you can have an easy bowel motion.

3- Respond to the first urge 🚻
Our body loves routine, and there’s nothing like a holiday to break that up, drastically. Listen to your body and try not to miss that window of opportunity to move your bowels.

4- Magnesium Citrate 💩
Your natural laxative. I suggest testing your bowel tolerance before you head overseas.

5- Digestive Enzymes 🍴
These are handy to keep in your bag and whip out at main meals that you just know are doing to do you dirty.

I hope these help! Please share your favourite travelling tip to prevent constipation below ⬇️

PART 4 - The luteal phase 😌

A time during the menstrual cycle when your skin is glowy and dewy. HOWEVER, if you have any relative hormone imbalance, you may experience problems during this week. If this is you, get in touch!!

Keep hygiene practices up, change your pillowcases often, drink your water and minimise sugar to support this phase of your cycle.

PART 3 - Ovulation, baby! 💥

Skincare during this action-packed time involves a littttllle TLC. You're most susceptible to break outs around this point of your cycle because your androgen hormones (like testosterone, which can cause oilier skin) naturally peak here.

Check back tomorrow for PART 4!

Send this post to a friend who might need some scientifically- backed period pain support 💛

This is a HUGE post on period pain and how to start to manage it from a holistic, lifestyle approach.

Basically, having a period is an inflammatory process. It has to be, in order for the lining of the uterus to shed each cycle.

BUT if you have a lot of pre-existing inflammation in your body already, you can experience more cramping activity and more period pain during menstruation.

Consider your lifestyle, diet, environment and pre-existing health conditions…. Do you think you have a lot of inflammation that is contributing to your period pain? 🤔

Start by using the tips in the last slide of this post. Often this will reduce period pain DRAMATICALLY. 🙌🏻

What is your experience with period pain and what have you found helpful?
