Co-Founders of Foot Mechanics, John and Lorraine Miller have joined forces with 2 other Tauranga families to create a Basketball Academy and NBL team The Bay of Plenty Stingrays starting in 2024.
The planned Basketball Academy and activities to support community sport are key to the Foundation’s strategy for success in the NBL. “We’re looking to add to and nurture a thriving basketball community here in the Bay of Plenty.” The Foundation has embraced the saying ‘you have to see it to be it’; the Stingrays NBL Team and Academy will encourage and inspire kids to get active and involved in the game at the grassroots level. The Academy will prepare promising players to play in the NBL and beyond, while working with regional schools and associations to help young people develop life skills through basketball.
