The reason behind 45 minutes with Enzyme Therapy.

It’s not a preference. It’s physiology.

Enzyme therapy isn’t just a mask. It’s a controlled biological process the skin moves through.

Which happens in phases.

Phase I : Hydrolysis (0–15 minutes)
Substances within the skin are activated and broken down into forms the body can recognise.

Phase II : Xeno-digestion (15–30 minutes)
The skin binds and neutralises what’s been activated, converting it into a water-soluble state.

Phase III : Bio-drainage (30–45 minutes)
Transport pathways activate. Circulation and lymphatic movement increase. Waste is mobilised and cleared. That plasmatic effect 🙌🏻

The final phase is where clearance occurs.

The full 45 minutes is non negotiable. Results are not created in the application but in what the skin is able to finish.

Our lymphatic system…

The skin reflects what it cannot clear:

• Fluid.
• Waste.
• Inflammation.

All moving through one system out then down.

Face → jaw → chin → neck → collarbone

When this flow slows, the skin holds onto what it should release.

• Puffiness.
• Congestion.
• Breakouts.
• Skin that feels stuck.

This is why we don’t just treat the surface.

Enzyme Therapy works with the body supporting circulation, oxygenation, and lymphatic movement through its plasmatic effect.

Don’t borrow skin from your future.

One thing we see quite often is skin being pushed a little too hard in the search for quick results.

Stronger actives.
More exfoliation.
Another treatment to “speed things up”.

Sometimes the skin looks better for a short while.

But when the barrier becomes compromised, inflammation can increase and the skin starts working harder than it should.

Healthy skin depends on a few simple things:

• a strong barrier
• balanced cell turnover
• good circulation
• controlled inflammation

When we chase fast change, we’re often borrowing from the future.

Let’s focus on restoring skin function first because when the skin is supported properly, results will come and last.

Healthy skin depends on three things:

• circulation
• oxygen delivery
• efficient cell turnover

When circulation slows, oxygen delivery drops and cell waste won’t be cleared efficiently.

One thing we talk about in almost every acne consultation is visualising a fly on the wall.

You could use a bazooka.
Yes, the fly is gone but so is the wall behind it.

Or you could use a fly swat.

Same result.
Far less damage.

This is often the difference between prescription vitamin A and a regulated form such as retinyl palmitate.

Not every skin concern needs a bazooka.

If your skin only behaves while you’re using something strong… what happens when you stop?

Prescription creams can absolutely have a place in skin treatment. But we often see is strong actives introduced before the skin is properly regulated.

When the barrier is already compromised, accelerating turnover or suppressing inflammation can lead to sensitivity, pigmentation, and long-term dependency.

Let’s prioritise restoring barrier integrity and balanced cell function before introducing stronger actives.

Our philosophy is correction without regulation is temporary. Function creates lasting change.

What we see vs what we treat at ISLA

We see breakouts every day.
But we’re not treating the breakout.

We are always looking at the regulation behind it.
Surface correction might calm it temporarily.
