Reflexology uses gentle pressure on the reflex points of the feet or hands to relax, relieve tension and help bring the body back into a state of natural balance. You do not need to have a specific complaint to benefit from a reflexology treatment. Reflexology will help relieve any tension or stress, induce relaxation and boot the body's natural healing mechanisms. Many people initially seek reflexology for a specific reason but continue with treatments on a regular basis to maintain good health and well being. To book an appointment, please contact me. I work in Napier and am flexible with times, working some evenings and Saturday morning.

Day 12 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips. We made it to Day 12! I hope you've enjoyed these posts. Look out tomorrow for a final bonus post 😁

And of course my last tip is... Book yourself regular reflexology treatments!

One treatment is nice. Regular treatments are better. Think of it in the same vein as keeping fit - one walk isn't going to help a lot πŸ˜‰

Schedule a treatment for this month right now, and always book the next one or two before you leave your appointment. Don't leave it, or else suddenly 6 months will have gone and you'll have done nothing! πŸ˜„

I'm off to take my own advice 😊

Day 11 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips. The heart area on the face ❀️

This is simple. Rub gently in small circles right between the eyebrows to ease heartache and stress.

Breathe slowly and deeply ❀️

That might be a seated tap along, or a wild dance, or anything in between - whatever you can do and feel like. Obviously, if you can, a good dance is healthy exercise too!

Move to music. It'll do you good πŸ‘

Day 9 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips. Today is another hand reflexology point - the adrenal gland.

The adrenal glands (you have two, one above each kidney) produce hormones, including cortisol and adrenaline.

These are essential in a crisis, but many of us are stressed and produce these hormones when we don't need them, causing a variety of symptoms.

To calm the adrenals, just hold the point in the picture. Don't pump it, just hold and breathe. If you have a sore spot there, breathe and try to think calm thoughts.

It's the same on both hands, so do both πŸ’•

Happy New Year! Day 8 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips. You know it's a new year when all the TV ads are about weight loss, quitting smoking, and getting fit! πŸ˜‚

But is this actually the best time of year to make big changes to your lifestyle? This time of year often means holidays, family gatherings, meals out, and so on. It's not the easiest time to start a diet, an exercise plan, a lifestyle change.

How about not starting a resolution right now, but making a plan instead for when life is more normal?

Maybe now is a good time to explore what you want to do in the year ahead. To think about changes you might want to make, to maybe even explore them, but not necessarily to start a resolution right now that might be impossible to keep if you're holidaying and relaxing.

Enjoy the break, and start the resolutions when they work for you. Be kind to yourself. Resolutions are not just for New Year 😊

Day 7 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips. Learn to relax 😌

Not everyone finds it easy to relax, but it does get easier with practice!

Why not start today? A cup of herbal tea (there are some lovely fruity ones out there and many of these are nice cold too if it's hot weather), a good book, some music, a jigsaw, listening to a podcast... There are so many good ways to be still and relax πŸ’•

Day 6 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips.

'No' is a complete sentence 😯 Learn to say 'no'.

You don't have to explain why you can't do something, don't want to do something, or shouldn't do something.

If something isn't right for you, you are allowed to say 'no'.

You can add a 'thank you' or a 'sorry', or even a qualifier if you want ('no, not at the moment, thank you'), but you shouldn't have to make it complicated.

And you certainly ly shouldn't get pressurised into saying yes if you've already said 'no'!

Why do we apologise and explain instead of just saying 'no'?

Day 5 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips.Today, a facial reflexology point - or two to be precise.

The shoulders are where many of us carry a lot of tension. and I don't mean the shoulder joints - I mean that muscle between your neck and shoulder that gets tight and tense - the trapezius muscle.

The facial reflexology point for the shoulder is at the inner corner of each eyebrow.

Press here on one eyebrow and see if it's sore. If it is, give it a gentle rub.

Then work along the upper edge of your eye socket, above or below the eyebrow (it depends on your eyebrow).

If you find a sore spot, just rub it gently. You're easing tension in the shoulders.

Then do the next eyebrow ❀️

Day 4 of my 12 Days of Christmas self-care tips.Did you know we are wired to look for the negative, to look for danger? It makes sense - you wouldn't cross the road without looking for traffic. It keeps us safe.

But it also means it's easier to notice the negative things, and that can mean we have a negative outlook on life.

Try to really notice the positive things.

Yes, check for traffic on the road, but take a minute to appreciate the sun on your skin. How warm it is. How it makes you relax. How it lightens your mood.

And if there's no sun and it's wet and miserable, find something else. How about getting inside warm and dry. How does that feel? Safe and secure? Calmer?

Look for the small things, Really concentrate on the good feelings they give you and try to build up good memories and feelings.

You're building resilience so that when the bad feelings threaten to overcome you, you have a store of good feelings to pull out 😘
