Honouring Excellence in Primary Healthcare
We continue to share the stories of our Hawke’s Bay Faculty of GPs Primary Healthcare Award winners — individuals and teams who go above and beyond every day for patients, whānau, and their communities.
Our award winners were peer-nominated and each post will highlight why they were recognized and the impact of their mahi across our region. While we celebrate these award recipients, we also want to acknowledge the dedication of everyone working in primary healthcare — from general practice and community pharmacy to allied health, kaiāwhina, and support roles.
Recognised for his strong leadership and commitment to cultural responsiveness, Mark Lee of Tamatea Medical Centre has quickly embedded tikanga‑aligned practice and strengthened relationships with Māori communities since joining the practice. Through championing Te Kura Nui (Health Hawke's Bay's Cultural Responsiveness Programme), te reo Māori learning, engagement with mana whenua, and Māori‑led communications, he is fostering a more culturally grounded, connected, and inclusive environment for staff and whānau.
