🤩🤩 This February, we are taking part in Move Your Butt for Bowel Cancer. 🚶‍♀️‍➡️🚶‍➡️

Our nurses are challenging to walk 100km to fight bowel cancer...

And the challenge starts TODAY!
Every month, 100 Kiwis die from bowel cancer and 253 people are diagnosed with this awful disease.

Our goal is to raise funds for Bowel Cancer New Zealand to raise awareness, support patients and fund research to stop bowel cancer taking the people we love.

So today, we are asking you to please sponsor our 100km challenge and support our team efforts to help save Kiwi lives.

📢📢📢- You may be aware the Government has announced some new initiatives for General Practice, these include 12 month prescriptions and ADHD assessment and diagnoses. There is a lot to consider with these initiatives and they are not as simple as they seem.

💊 - 12 Month Prescriptions are coming:
However most people may not be suitable for this because of their health conditions. This can be discussed at your next Doctors appointment.

If you are eligible for a 12 month prescription you will need an appointment with your GP once a year.

📅Please ensure you book well ahead to get an appointment with your own GP on time. These will not be repeated automatically.

🩺 - ADHD Assessments & Diagnosis:
Currently Wakefield Health Centre is not providing this specialized service, but we are exploring how we may do this in the future.

Please be patient while we work through these initiatives.

Morena, We are open for business as usual. But we ask if your appointment is non urgent please stay off the roads as recommended by Nelson Tasman Civil Defence. Your appointment can be changed to a phone consult or rescheduled to a later date. Fake Diabetes "Cures" Social Media

Kia ora koutou!

Some of you may have already seen the social media scam that is circulating using fake videos of Professor Rinki Murphy (Health NZ, University of Auckland), falsely promoting diabetes “cures” and weight loss products.

Unfortunately, as a result of this scam some patients have stopped taking their prescribed medication and paid for these fake treatments, posing serious health and financial risks.

Prof Dame Helen Stokes-Lampard, the National Chief Medical Officer, has asked us to please remind patients to:

• Never stop diabetes meds without medical advice.
• Be wary of ads claiming “5-second cures” or pills “not sold in pharmacies”.
• Report fake videos to the platform and avoid clicking links.
• Report harm or financial loss to NZ Police.
