We’re excited to welcome Facundo Figueroa & Ana Macri to the Nelson Yoga Festival 🌿
Yin Yoga and Reiki teachers with over 20 years of practice, Facundo and Ana bring a deeply grounded and heart-led approach to healing and connection. Their journey began in the wild landscapes of Patagonia and has taken them across the world, including devoted study in Japan.
Now based in Nelson after many years immersed in the mountains of Queenstown, they offer spaces that invite balance, restoration, and self-discovery through Yin Yoga and traditional Japanese Reiki.
Their sessions are inclusive, nourishing, and open to all — guided in both English and Spanish.
✨ Join them at the festival and experience their calm, authentic presence.

We love to walk and appreciate the autumn foliage,
the colors, the changes. Momijigari 🍁

Autumn reminds us that everything changes,
and within that change, there is beauty.

A gentle reminder to be present.
To observe, to let go.
Just for today

Shihan Sandar Kyaw

As both a Reiki practitioner and a Karate practioner, I’ve found deep resonance between the two disciplines. In karate, daily practice is highly encouraged, yet like many people, I can’t always train every day because of everyday responsibilities—work, family, chores. What I’ve noticed, though, is that if I miss class for a week or two, returning to the dojo becomes a real struggle—not because I’m afraid of falling behind in technique, but because my stamina drops so noticeably. I end up gasping for air, feeling panicked in the middle of drills, and that embarrassment and physical distress used to make me terrified of being absent. It wasn’t that I was obsessed with mastering martial arts; I just didn’t want to feel like I was drowning in my own body on the dojo floor.

Interestingly, Reiki works the same way. If we practice daily, we maintain what I call “Reiki stamina”—that clear, steady channel for energy. But if we stop practicing, that connection doesn’t vanish completely, but it does seem to fade or feel “rusty.” There was a time when I hadn’t practiced Reiki for about a month, and I honestly wasn’t sure if the energy was still there at all. I felt so uncertain that I reached out to my teacher for guidance. She reassured me that a Reiki attunement is meant to last a lifetime—it doesn’t simply wear off. However, she emphasized that consistent practice is what keeps it strong, clear, and readily available, much like physical stamina in karate. Without regular use, the channel remains but grows faint, and it takes conscious effort to restore its flow.
