Measles is serious, it spreads fast, and it can affect both tamariki and adults. The best protection is 2 doses of the MMR vaccine.

MMR is given to tamariki at 12 and 15 months. For pēpi under 12 months, the best protection is making sure everyone around them is fully immunised. Not sure if you’ve had 2 doses? It’s safe to get an extra one — and our Plunket teams in some areas can help check your records.

20 of our Plunket clinics now offer MMR vaccines for the whole whānau - check our website or call 0800 184 803 to find a clinic near you. You can also get it at your GP or pharmacy.

Pass this on to your friends and whānau to help them get protected.

🎉 It’s Toy Safety Week – Let’s make play safer!

We’re excited to introduce New Zealand’s first-ever Toy Safety Week (20–26 October)!

We’re proud to be partnering with Ririki Haumaru Safe Kids Aotearoa, Whānau Āwhina Plunket, Health New Zealand, and the Commerce Commission to help make play safer for our Tamariki.

Every year, more than 1,200 children aged 0–3 are injured by toy-related hazards - many of which can be prevented with simple safety checks.

This week is all about sharing practical tips for whānau and caregivers, from choosing safe toys to supervising play.

What’s your number one safety tip for keeping Tamariki safe?

Keep an eye out for Toy Safety Week videos and resources designed to help you make confident, informed choices.

Take a moment to check your toy box for recalled products at https://www.productsafety.govt.nz - it only takes a minute to help keep Tamariki safe.

Visit the Toy Safety Week webpage for more helpful information and tools:

Let’s work together to make playtime safer and more fun for everyone!
