Te Putahi Nui o Rehua proudly presents:

RONGOA MAORI - Please ensure your read the brief whanau

🌿🤍

Brief of kaupapa:
Our preferred participants are those whanau/individuals that have experienced sexual trauma and have not accessed support for this. We know that our whanau are not always forthcoming to address sexual violence trauma or don't know how to, so we are providing a safe and supportive space to begin their journey of reclamation, oranga wairua, oranga hinengaro, oranga tinana, oranga whanau.

Overview:
It is a wānanga based initiative for all survivors of sexual violence (no age limit although under 16yrs must be attended by an adult) and their whānau, to assist in dealing with the lasting consequences of sexual violence by providing them with the tools and knowledge to not only reduce further harm but also assist in the transition to healing. I ruia mai i Rangiātea delivers messaging around te mana o te tāne, te mana o te wāhine and he taonga te mokopuna from a relational perspective. It utilises pūrakau (traditional narratives), wānanga and kaupapa Māori initiatives to strengthen participants’ understanding and connection to te ao Māori. I ruia mai i Rangiātea has a key focus on connection to a sense of identity through mātauranga Māori specific to Te Tai Tokerau. No cost.

This is an invitation to you and those whanau that you are/have been supporting that have disclosed some form of sexual violence experience.
We will provide a safe and supportive space for participants to connect in te ao Māori.

Alot of people have asked if they are expected to share their story or will others know and judge them. Please know that this is not a wānanga where participants are expected to stand up and declare or even talk about their trauma experience. The intention of the wānanga is to provide a supportive space to absorb matauranga Māori and hopefully acquire tools to strengthen their journey in life. If there are participants who feel the need to korero about any issues they have, I will be available to have 1:1 korero with them and have pamphlets/info available to those that may choose to follow a formal process through ACC (sensitive claims).
For funding milestone outcomes, I will require participants to register as per the link below. There will also be consent and evaluation forms to complete on the day. Please assure participants that all this information will be kept anonymous to the Kaiwhakahaere and myself who is responsible for administration of the kaupapa. What gets forwarded on to ACC is cumulative information.

Please if you have any whānau that may benefit from this service please refer them to this link to register an interest.
