🌿 Te Rā o Waitangi 🌿

Today we honoured Te Rā o Waitangi by celebrating Māori culture with our residents. Our Māori residents enjoyed hāngī, parāoa parai (fried bread), and pudding, shared with aroha and whakawhanaungatanga.

As part of the celebration, residents proudly created a kākahu huruhuru (Māori feather cloak), showcasing creativity, mana, and cultural pride. It was a meaningful day of connection, storytelling, and kai as we reflected on the importance of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

He rā whakahirahira, he rā kotahitanga.
(A special day, a day of unity.)

Staff and Residents' Christmas Party.

Each year, the management gifts ALL residents. How we do it? Staff will have to draw a resident's name. It is their responsibility to buy the gift and wrap it. Management gives them cash for the presents. 😊

In this way, all our residents get presents for Christmas and no one is missed out. Not even those without families. Because once they come to stay at Sandringham House Rest Home, we become their family. 💖🌲🎁

Sandringham House Christmas Carolling
16 December 2025

Staff gathered at 6pm together with some residents and families to sing Christmas carols to our residents room by room.

After the carolling, Phoebe prepared some hot chocolate (the Filipino style "sikwate") from pure Philippine cocoa tablets coupled with some steamed rice cakes (p**o pinalutaw).

This is our second time to do the annual staff Christmas carolling. 🎄🤶🎅🌲🧑‍🎄
