Just listened to a great interview on RNZ about chronic inflammation. See link below.
A silent fire: The danger of inflammation

One of our body's greatest weapons again illness and injury can also be a cause of diabetes, depression and cancer. Inflammation is sometimes an insidious force in our bodies, destroying healthy tissue without us even knowing it.

Christmas is nearly here (and so, thankfully, is some sunshine!)

This arrived in my inbox today (courtesy of the Bradcliff Breathing Method)

How can we avoid the pre-Christmas stress mess?

Try these tips:

Plan your time. People are always important, things are sometimes important. Don't let things crowd out people.

Plug in work-free, stress-free zones during your week. Take time out (whether its 10 minutes or all Sunday afternoon), you'll find the world keeps spinning just the same without your extra worrying, and it might even seem a nicer place.

Laughter is the best toxin-free medicine.
Make sure you have a good belly laugh at least once a day, if not once an hour. It works the diaphragm a treat, and releases serotonin (a mood enhancer as well as a sleep nectar) into your system. A good bout of laughter is one of the best stress-busters. Smiling is OK too. If this is too hard, just fake smile. The body still releases all the feel good chemicals.

A very interesting post on why balance is SO important. Ability to balance on one leg with your eyes closed has been shown to be a predictor of how long you might live and how healthy you might be.
