KŌ Kollective Trust

KŌ Kollective Trust What is your best vision for our Awesome Opotiki community? Want to be part of the change you wish to see? We'd love to hear from you.

We are a social moment that enables and empowers people to dream, activate and actualise their best and fullest potential. We believe this is best achieved through the power of collective aspiration, action and service in, and for, the benefit of our Opotiki community.

Our people are being targeted. 🎯
The gambling industry knows exactly where to aim, our communities, our culture, our hopes for a better life. Now it’s social media influencers showing the “glamour” of gambling, while the silent pain grows in our homes.

Our whānau deserve better. Our rangatahi deserve truth, not temptation.

Let’s stand together, protect our mana, and remind each other: we are worth more than their profits.

Manaaki te tangata, ahakoa ko wai, ahakoa nō hea ✨
“Care for the person, no matter who they are or where they come from.” Nā, Hira Te Popo

In Te Ao Māori, manaaki reminds us that the strength of our whānau lies in how we uplift and care for one another. When we see gambling harm starting to affect our people, manaaki calls us to act with compassion to listen, and awhi without judgment.
By holding to our mātāpono of manaaki, we create safe spaces where healing and connection replace harm and disconnection.

A beautiful way to close off an incredible 8 weeks spent with wāhine from all walks of life. Together we’ve connected, shared space, and offered parts of ourselves. Each week brought growth in confidence, in openness, and in learning something new (sometimes even for the very first time).

Tonight we celebrate the journey, the courage, and the sisterhood that has been woven throughout HER Haven 2. ✨🌿

From the mouths of our rangatahi 🗣️Go to the beach for a whakawātea — to find space and your inner thoughts. Kōrero with your best friends and your whānau, they are your whole world and will always be there for you. Remember, the first step to tell someone is the biggest one. 💛

Kapa haka makes me harikoa ✨ It nurtures all walls of Te Whare Tapa Whā — tinana, hinengaro, wairua and whānau. The best part is doing it with my whānau, strengthening our wellbeing together. 💛 Disconnect to Reconnect through kapa haka.
