With only 12 days left till Christmas, I figured I should write a little blurb about remedies that are popular for Christmas time! While Christmas time is great for catching up with friends and family and taking time out to enjoy the festive season, it can also be stressful both physically and mentally as we stress about what to buy for gifts and how to cope with in-laws. For these types of situations, Homeopathy can help bring relief on a number of levels whether for acute periods of physical or emotional stress, or longer term issues such as grief or depression. Below are the most common remedies that you may need this Christmas. If you don't have these on hand but would like to order them, let me know by Tuesday the 18th.

1. Over Indulgence: Nux vomica: For symptoms that arise after over indulgence and excess in food, alcohol, to***co and coffee. The person may suffer from headaches, indigestion, nausea and irritability. Arsenicum: for symptoms of diarrhoea, vomiting, and cramps where you suspect food poisoning.

2. Stress and Anxiety: Argentum nitricum: Anxiety from worry that it won't work out. What if dinner burns; what if power goes out; what if gifts don't arrive on time? There is a great sense of urgency, hurriedness and worrying about everything with sleepless nights of tossing and turning.

3. Sleep problems: Coffea: Sleeplessness from excitement. This remedy is great for the kids that just can't sleep in anticipation of Santa's arrival.

4. Colds: Aconite: If caught at the early stage, nip those colds in the bud that come on suddenly after exposure.

5. Overexertion or bumps and bruises: Arnica: when muscles are overtired, aching, sore, and you just can't get comfortable.

6. Burns: Cantharis: whether its a sunburn from enjoying the sun too much or something more serious like a second or even third degree burn from cooking. This remedy will help soothe the pain.

All of these remedies should be taken in 30c potency every 30 minutes until the symptoms begin to ease.

Calming Remedy for Guy Fawkes!

Fireworks can be a lot of fun for many people. Mostly people who do not have pets! Anyone who has a pet or especially an anxious pet tends to find Guy Fawkes to be one of the most stressful times of the year.

Your pet may start with shaking, cowering and hiding at the sporadic gun shot booms and squealing sparks flying around your neighbourhood. Or you may find that they wee on your carpet and bark hysterically. You're trying desperately to drown out the sounds with calming music, you have pheromone sprays all over your house, you're burning calming essential oils and you're missing out on a really great party round your friends place because you cant leave your terrified animals unattended. The loud bangs and crackling of fireworks now trigger a stress response in you as you watch your beloved pet suffer and there is nothing you can do. You contemplate going over to the neighbours and choking them to death. What is wrong with these people! Do they not know how scared your animals are???
