AMAZING Conference for the NZ Herb Federation & their 40th Anniversary!! I'm still processing how profoundly it moved me. Being immersed in a community of such knowledgeable, passionate people was extraordinary. The depth of wisdom shared so generously, the incredible expertise in the room, the meaningful conversations and connections that I experienced —it all left me feeling deeply grateful and inspired. These are the moments that remind me why I love this work. My heart is genuinely full 🌿🩷🌼

What exactly is a Medical Herbalist?

A Medical Herbalist is a practitioner who is highly trained in the philosophies, principles and practice of Western Herbal Medicine and medical science.

They take a holistic view towards health, wellbeing and illness. They prescribe and dispense plant medicine (phytomedicine) safely and effectively and may also provide dietary and lifestyle advice. They seek to treat the underlying cause of a health challenge whilst acknowledging your body's innate ability to heal itself.

# 🚨 KNOW THE RED FLAGS: Cauda Equina Syndrome 🚨

I was lucky to have such a pro active physio that saved me from being paraplegic. I am super grateful to be walking today 🩷

**Cauda Equina Syndrome (CES) is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY** that requires immediate treatment to prevent permanent nerve damage.

# # What is CES?
A rare condition where nerves at the base of the spinal cord become compressed, causing serious symptoms that can lead to permanent paralysis and loss of bladder/bowel control if not treated urgently.

# # ⚠️ WARNING SIGNS - Seek IMMEDIATE medical attention if you experience:

✓ Severe lower back pain
✓ Saddle anesthesia (numbness in inner thighs, buttocks, or ge***al area)
✓ Loss of bladder or bowel control
✓ Sudden weakness in one or both legs
✓ Sexual dysfunction
✓ Sciatica affecting both legs

# # ⏰ TIME IS CRITICAL
CES requires emergency surgery within 24-48 hours to prevent permanent damage. Don't wait - go to the ER immediately if you suspect CES.
