Ngā mihi maioha ki a koutou katoa.

𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐬𝐮𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧

I will be offering a free 45 minute breathwork session this Saturday (22nd of June) @ 7:30am on the beach in Pāpāmoa in front of the Pony Club carpark, close to the Pāpāmoa Domain. This session will be photographed and recorded, and the images and video will be shared on social media.

The weather is forecast to be cloudy. Bring a yoga mat, and a blanket, and some warm clothes!

We will drop into an energising breath to start our weekend with connection and energy. No experience with breathwork necessary.

There is a maximum of 14 spaces available. Bookings essential. If you're interested, I'll ask for a $10 deposit (which I'll give back to you in cash on the day). The reason for this is to ensure that people actually arrive, making it worthwhile for the hiring of the photographer.

If you're interested please get in touch via DM.

I often find working with people that the stories they've created around themselves are filled with much more judgement than they would have for anyone else.

I offer you this simple exercise.

The next time you notice you have been triggered by life's circumstance;
When you are safe, calmly take the time to inquire into what you feel in your body when you connect with that situation again. What does this triggering, this upset, actually FEEL like? What do you notice in your body? Where do you notice it? Is there a tightening in your throat? Is there a sensation of heaviness in your chest? Do you feel a sensation of heat in your face? Or a clenching sensation in your jaw?

From there, ask yourself - "Is this sensation familiar to me? Have I felt this before?"

When you take the time to inquire, often you will realise that the present sensation is a reflection of something much older - most often going all the way back to childhood.

If you are able to connect your present experience with an element of your past; see that child aspect of yourself as you would see your own child. Connect to them with nothing but the love and compassion of an attuned parent. There's no need for words. You can simply be there with them. Hold them if it feels good.

And when you're ready to let go and return with full presence to this moment, let that child know that you are always with them, you've never left them. That they are loved. That they are safe. Trust in their strength and youthful resilience. That when you depart they will feel the resonance of your love.

It was not your fault.

You were, and you still are, innocent.

My Why.

People have been reaching out to Mojo Dojo asking "why do you offer your services on a koha / donation basis?"

This is my reason. I want to do whatever small part I can to bring more compassion and peace into the world.

This is the world I want for my son.

"In the beginning, people take compassion to mean the feeling of wanting to alleviate the person's pain or take it away from them.

A deeper level of compassion is taking action whether you feel inclined to or not.

The third level of compassion could include hurting somebody or not taking their pain away when you see it. Sometimes they need the pain to learn something about themselves. They may need it to learn about compassion. If you take away people's hurt, they won't learn how to be compassionate.

We also said the most objective compassion has to do with truth. Whether the person feels hurt or doesn't feel hurt is immaterial.

The point is truth, the golden truth."

- A.H. Almaas

"Yes, breathing in different patterns really can influence our body weight and overall health.

Yes, how we breathe really does affect the size and function of our lungs.

Yes, breathing allows us to hack into our own nervous system, control our immune response, and restore our health.

Yes, changing how we breathe will help us live longer."

- James Nestor, Breath.

A gentle reminder.

Gratitude is an attitude to be cultivated. To be worked on consistently.

Today I'm thankful for:
- my son's good health
- bananas (caramelised and in my porridge!)
- the opportunity of a brand new day

What's good in your world?

Take a moment to recentre.

Let go of everything that's happened, and everything that is to happen.

Be with what is here and now. Your breath, and your body sensations.

Feeling invisible in any relationship completely drains your energy and makes you question your own sense of self.

Have you ever experienced this around your doctor? Or any other health professional? Where you've had something you really needed to share and you felt like they hardly listened, or even looked at you?

Maybe you've even felt like this at times with your friends or family.

How about the way you see yourself? Do you take the time to really see yourself? Are there parts of you that yearn to be seen and heard?

What practices or perspectives do you utilise to connect with yourself?

All Compassionate Empowerment sessions at Mojo Dojo are currently offered on a koha / donation / pay-it-forward basis. Visit mojodojo.co.nz for more info.
