Many of our regular customers and visitors to the pharmacy will recognise Kerry, one of our key members of staff since November 2012. She might have helped you find the perfect Christmas present, or colour matched you into the perfect foundation, or assisted you with medicines for your kids when they were unwell.
She was the magic behind all of our window displays and instore merchandising up until 2023 when she decided to pursue other adventures after 12 years at My Pharmacy.
Not long after embarking on this new adventure Kerry was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer. Anyone who knows Kerry will have seen she did not take this news lying down and has fought this terrible disease with an uncommon courage and optimism which has been nothing short of astounding to all of us.
Unfortunately on Saturday Kerry finally lost the war with bowel cancer, and passed away surrounded by her beautiful and loving family. Cancer might have finally won but man did she give it a run for its money, refusing to let it get her down, and continuing to live her best life. She even managed to visit us in the pharmacy last week knowing that her time was now very short.
So our team might look a little forlorn at the moment, however on Wednesday we will be celebrating Kerry by dressing up in bright colours and celebrating her life. We will also be collecting donations for Bowel Cancer New Zealand and and Ben the Boss will be matching every dollar donated with a dollar of his own to support this organisation. Kerry was working with them over the last few months of her fight against Bowel Cancer in the only way she knew how, with commitment and willingness to help, and always making it beautiful.
We know that the bar at the Pearly Gates will have had a massive run on Espresso Martinis over the weekend, so cheers to Kerry a beautiful and loyal friend to all of the team at My Pharmacy Papamoa Plaza, we will all miss you terribly.
