ED trigger warning.

I’m saddened to see the headlines today, featuring Kim K at the Met Gala, after losing 16 lbs in 3 weeks in order to fit into Marilyn Monroes dress. What disturbs me even more is the fact that this is being applauded, condoned and normalized in the media.

I repeat: disordered eating and dangerous weight loss practices are being praised and normalized in the name of fashion, for ALL eyes to see.

This is a disgusting display of diet culture and just a reminder that we have so SO far to go.

This will happen and our kids will be exposed to it. But I assure you that the messages and narrative at home is what matters most. It is what will stick; what will become your child’s inner dialogue. Inquiring and curious kids need to know that this isn’t ok, nor is it healthy or beautiful. In fact, it’s dangerous.

Clothing is meant to fit your body. Not the other way around. ❤️

Our Story

Nutrition Plus Bay of Plenty is owned and operated by Danelle Stevens. She is a New Zealand Registered Nutritionist who holds a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation, Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health & Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences (Human Nutrition). She is also an Accredited DESMOND Diabetes Educator and an ISAK1 Anthropometrist. Danelle is passionate about improving health, wellbeing & performance for both athletes and the general public. She holds a special interest in womens health and in particular, matching menstrual cycles with nutrition and training and correcting hormonal imbalances.

Danelle works locally with the Bay of Plenty Rugby Union and Adams Academy for High Performance as well as operating her private clinic in Papamoa. Her Papamoa clinic services include nutrition assessment & support as well as functional testing and provision of practitioner only health & nutrition supplements. She is available for individual and family consultations, public speaking and group education.
