🎄Caring for Your Gut Through the Holidays 🎄
As we head into the Christmas season, I always notice how my gut responds to the extra foods being consumed and a disrupted eating routine (especially eating later than usual).
And if you’re anything like many of the women I support, you might feel it too — bloating, tiredness, the “off” feeling after a few big days.
So here are a few gentle reminders of things you can do to keep digestion steady and inflammation low:
✨ Starting the day slowly
Even during the holidays, I take a few minutes to have a big drink of water and take a few quiet breath.
It helps my nervous system settle — and when we’re calm, our digestive enzymes switch back on.
🥗 Building my plate around colour
Whether it's Christmas lunch or a BBQ with friends, I always look for ways to add plenty of plant foods to my plate.
Fibre feeds your microbiome, which means better energy, better hormones, better mood… especially this time of year.
💧 Sipping water between the celebrations
It sounds simple, but hydration is one of the quickest ways to support digestion and reduce that heavy, sluggish feeling.
🍽️ Eating mindfully — not perfectly
I never aim for “perfect” eating at Christmas.
I simply pause, chew well, and notice when my body has had enough. This alone can help reduce bloating and support smoother digestion.
💛 Resting when my body asks for it
The holidays can stretch our nervous systems. When the gut is inflamed or stressed, the whole body feels it — so I make space to rest, even if it’s just 10 quiet minutes.
If your gut feels unsettled during the holidays, you’re not alone — and small, mindful shifts make a big difference.
Wishing you a calm belly, steady energy, and a Christmas filled with ease and joy.
