Kapiti Hot Yoga, home of the original 26+2 hot yoga series Welcome to Kapiti Hot Yoga, we teach the original 26+2 hot yoga sequence, commonly known as Bikram Yoga. Heat + Yoga, how it works.

The sequence is made up of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises and is practiced in a heated room. When the body is warm, muscles, fascia,​ and connective tissue are more elastic allowing for greater flexibility and less chance of injury. Combine this with the intelligent sequence of poses that safely stretches & strengthens muscles, ligaments, and joints, and you have the perfect system of exercise to bring back natural range of motion to bodies. The sequence is made up of beginner's poses and is​ suitable for all abilities. Our goal is to teach students to take each pose step by step. Step one, learning to engage the right muscles and align the body. Step two, learning to breathe and still the mind once in the pose. And, step three, finding your depth, both physically and mentally. Students are led through the sequence by a set of detailed instructions designed to guide them in and out of poses safely. All classes are the same; same poses, same breathing exercises, same instructions - so you know exactly what to expect. ​

🌿 South Korea Has a Sport Where You Literally Do… Nothing! 🇰🇷

In a country known for its fast-paced lifestyle, high work hours, and intense study culture, South Korea created something refreshingly unexpected — the Space-Out Competition, a real event dedicated to doing absolutely nothing.

Created in 2014 by Korean artist Woopsyang, the competition was designed to help people disconnect, de-stress, and rediscover the power of mental stillness.

Today, it has grown into a beloved annual event — and even spread to cities like Hong Kong, Tokyo, Melbourne, and Rotterdam.

🧘‍♂️ How it works:

• Participants sit or lie quietly for 90 minutes
• No phones, no talking, no sleeping
• Heart rate monitors track who stays calmest
• Spectators vote for the “most peaceful vibe”
• The most relaxed person wins 🏆

It’s the only competition where the goal isn’t to push harder… but to slow down, breathe, and simply be.

Have been a little quiet on Socials these last couple of weeks, as was lucky to have the opportunity to attend the 200hr Hot Yoga Teacher Training, run by Evolation Yoga.

So amazing to watch these trainees take on the role of Teacher. As students we don't always realise what goes into becoming a teacher, as with time it becomes effortless. But in the beginning it is anything but effortless, it requires a tremendous amount of courage, hard work and a willingness to step out of ones comfort zone. And this is exactly what they did. Congrats to you all, I know that I speak for all of us when we say we cant wait to take your classes!

And so wonderful to finally meet Mark and Zefea Drost from Evolation Yoga. These two combined have such a wealth of knowledge about the 26+2 Hot Yoga Practice and I'm so grateful to know them, thank you for sharing your love, passion and knowledge of this yoga practice...and setting me and all the new teacher trainees on this journey. 💖😀😍

Most people think hot yoga is a “winter thing”…but summer is actually when your body is most ready to thrive in the heat.

Here’s why:
1) You adapt FASTER
You’re already warmer + your body is already working with heat.
So you’ll often find you settle into the room more easily + progress quicker.

2) BETTER cardio + stamina gains
Training in warmer conditions builds heat tolerance → which improves fitness.
So when everyone else is dragging through summer…

So excited to officially welcome Kim Tasker and Tanja Trefz to the Yin Teaching Team at Kapiti Hot Yoga.

You can catch Tanja, this Sunday for Yin 60 at 6.30pm and Kim will be teaching on Thursday evenings for the month of November. 💖

Our Story

Welcome to Kapiti Hot Yoga, we teach the original Hot Yoga series, 26+2 - made popular by Bikram Yoga. Made up of 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises, the therapeutic hatha yoga sequence is suitable for all ages and abilities. Each posture stretches and strengthens specific muscles, ligaments and joints to give you a full body workout. Additionally, the sequence systematically moves freshly oxygenated blood throughout your body, stimulating the organs, glands and nerves, restoring all systems to a healthier working order and giving you a greater sense of well-being. Practised in a hot room, the heat is designed to warm up your body, providing a safer environment in which to perform the postures and stretch your body. The combined heat and humidity also promotes sweating which in turn flushes toxins from your body. In addition, the series of postures combine skills of concentration, patience, determination and self-control that increase mental clarity and reduce stress If like me, you enjoy a yoga practice that not only gives your body a full workout but your mind as well you will love the 26&2 series.
