Matariki celebration tonight with a cheats hangi and food representing each star. Started with oysters off the beach, local Salmon and gurnard escabeche for Waita. Foraged watercress for Waiti. Tupuarangi represented with chicken in the hangi and it flavoured with matipo, kawakawa and tarata.
And from the ground- kumara, yams and potato on pork and lamb in the hangi.
for Tupuanuku. Feeling replete and thankful for good friends, and ancestors.
