☀️ What does SPF really mean?

We all know sunscreen is essential, but what does SPF actually mean?

SPF (Sun Protection Factor) measures how well your sunscreen protects against UVB rays—the ones that cause sunburn. SPF 30 blocks about 97% of UVB rays and means you can stay in the sun roughly 30 times longer without burning.

Here's just a few tips:

✅ Go for SPF 30 or higher
✅ Choose broad spectrum (UVA + UVB)
✅ Reapply every 2 hours

Real wellness isn’t about doing more, it’s about pausing. Exhale, slow down, and give yourself permission to simply just be rather than do.

💉 Check your family’s immunisation status today and keep your whānau safe.

Measles is back in the headlines – and here’s why it matters.

In Aotearoa, only 76% of Kiwi kids under two are immunised. That means we don’t have herd immunity to protect our most vulnerable – our tamariki.

Children under five are at the greatest risk of severe complications from measles.

Check out Part 1 of our two-part series, where community pharmacist Tracey explains what measles is and why it’s so serious.

And come back tomorrow for Part 2, where Tracey dives into the complications of measles and why prevention matters.
