It is absolutely a thing to be freaked out by weather. Our nervous system hears the havoc winds and pounding rain. It waits, in the stress response, ready to save you. Wild weather also brings us an opportunity to switch what our mind is telling our body, to experience something else. Calmer, unchanging. Be prepared for rough weather, and then switch so you can sleep, digest and balance. Find your breath. Breathe deep into your belly, and on the outbreath let go of what you've been holding since the warnings began. The forecast inside your breathe is calm, soothing... like a still forest at sunrise.
