Nettle πΏ
I love this plant π
For so many reasons, it is high in minerals and vitamins and plant based iron + look at that colour π
This is fresh nettle that I boiled up in water and left the lid on over night, strained and now we are drinking it.
Simple cheap and effective. It's a great daily tonic to help with energy and iron levels.
Interestingly the whole plant is beneficial - the leaves, the seeds, the tips, the roots. But most commonly it is the leaves that we use.
WAAAAYYYY back in the day Roman soldiers would apparently carry nettle to help prevent scurvy and the fibre of nettle has been used in clothing and ropes. Versatile ah.
Nettle is amazing because it is densely nutritious, with decent amounts of calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc silica and Vitamin C. It is also high in phytonutrients that give us an antioxidant boost. A nettle infusion (tea) is an awesome way to start the day.
