The Friends of Motueka Hospital Trust was established in 1992 by a handful of locals determined to fight the proposed closure of the local hospital. Some 14 years later, in 2006, the Trust had raised enough money to buy the Motueka Community Hospital form the District Health Board. In 2009 a 45 bed facility, comprising of rest home, dementia, hospital and palliative care was opened and named the Jack Inglis Friendship Hospital, in honour of the Chairman of the Trust for his continued work and exceptional fundraising efforts. Since opening, we have grown to a 77 bed facility, with plans set for 2018 to begin building our Retirement Village with serviced Apartments as well as an additional Dementia Wing. We believe that people are our priority and the care and support which we provide is holistic in its approach, encompassing the social, spiritual, physical, cultural and psychological characteristics of each individual. Our aim is to support and assist people to live the best life they can and to maintain their independence and abilities. To achieve this, we take a consultative approach with residents, family/whanau and staff to ensure that the uniqueness of each individual is acknowledged. Our services include:
- Day Activity Programme
- Dementia Care
