Gotta love it when a client sends you a lovely testimonial.

"It has just occurred to me that I believe I can safely say I am free of facial absesses, since it’s been over a year I’m thinking.
Having them lanced was not funny business.
I must acknowledge Sheryl Scott Naturopath from Raglan who put an end to the nasties that plagued me for some years.
🌺Thankyou Sheryl!!🌺

Mainstream medicine's answer to infections is antibiotics which can cause extinction type events of good gut bacteria, especially if a number of courses are given. Much like a spray can kill both weeds and healthy plants in your garden. Damage to the gut microbiome can have so many flow-on effects. As 70% of your immune system resides in the gut, damage to the microbial balance can diminish your immune system's ability to fight infection and other pathogens.

As a new parent, 35 years ago, I asked both the GP and Plunket nurse for the pros and cons of vaccination for my baby and instead of being given a vaccine insert to read, was given fear that my baby could die of a vaccine preventable disease! (Isn't it interesting that fear was the driver for the Covid vaccination too?)

I now realise this is not what INFORMED CONSENT looks like.

Being able to make the best decision for your baby’s wellbeing includes the following:

1. Reading the vaccine insert.
2. Being able to research the health effects of each vaccine ingredient. Are you aware there is formaldehyde, polysorbate 80, aluminium, antibiotics, egg proteins, animal proteins, aborted foetal cells, (thimerosol - mercury in the flu vaccine)?
3. Being aware of ALL of the possible side effects including ear infections, seizures, skin rashes, eczema, asthma, food allergies, autoimmune conditions, type 1 diabetes, cancer and death by having access to VAERS - the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System.
4. Being able to review the safety studies and know who funded the studies, how long they ran, whether the placebo was inert, another vaccine or the adjuvant, and review the study of the cumulative effect of the vaccine schedule comparing vaccinated to unvaccinated children (oh that’s right that safety study has been done but was hidden).
5. Knowing what the mortality rates of the disease being vaccinated against are.
6. Being aware of holistic treatment options for those diseases.
7. Understanding natural immunity.
8. Knowing that pharmaceutical companies have no liability for vaccines and since removal of liability in the 1980s that the vaccine schedule has trebled. Children's health outcomes did not improve with this intervention but in fact got worse.
9. Being aware of lawsuits vaccine manufacturers have been a part of. The largest fine in the pharmaceutical industry is $7.4 billion for fraud.

For true informed consent you need to know this information. All medications have risks.

As parents we spend a lot of time researching car seats, healthy food, educational toys, etc. Shouldn't we research the risk/benefit profile of vaccines for ourselves too??

Check out the data sheets at www.medsafe.govt.nz
You can put any vaccine into the search box to bring up the data sheet.

Immune health is an important topic for pregnant and lactating women who have increased nutrient needs, not just for folate and iodine, but the complete range of micronutrients.

Your body is working hard to provide for your baby so getting a cold, flu or fever is the last thing you want. Prevention is better than cure. You can maintain that pregnancy or new mum glow with these tips:

1. Get enough sleep. Studies show that people who get 7+ hours of sleep each night have fewer colds or flus that those who get less.

2. Eat a whole food Mediterranean type diet. A balanced healthy diet supports a healthy body. Avoid processed foods and refined oils.
If you would like support with nutrition please message me.

3. Take the necessary supplements to provide optimal nutrients and strengthen your body's defences against illness.

4. Avoid close contact with sick friends or family.

5. Wash your hands often.

6. Exercise regularly.

7. Make managing stress a priority.

If you do get sick while pregnant or breastfeeding your first steps should be to rest, get plenty of fluids, gargle with warm salt water for a sore throat, take hot lemon, honey, thyme and ginger or garlic tea, use hydrotherapy - hot and cold packs, or a cool bath for a fever, and nourishing food, fresh fruit and vegetable juices, and chicken soup.

Peppermint or lemon balm teas can help soothe a headache. Also for a headache - pop your feet in a bucket of hot water and put a cold flannel on your forehead.

If you experience any difficulty breathing, pain, bleeding, severe vomiting, ongoing high fever or decreased fetal movement, see a doctor urgently.

Omega 3 essential fatty acids are essential for everybody for heart, brain, joint and eye health; however they are especially important in pregnancy to support the developing nervous system and brain of the growing baby. Increased omega 3s have also been shown to lower the risk of preeclampsia, reduce post natal depression and lower risk of pre-term labour and delivery (cease supplementation at 39 weeks).

The three forms of omega-3s are:
🥑Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA)
🍣Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)
🥗Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA).

The best way to get these anti-inflammatory omega 3s are from a variety of sources: flaxseed, chia, walnuts, pecans, pistachio, edamame, avocado, algae, kiwifruit, low mercury salmon, fish etc, however to ensure you are meeting the increased requirements of these essential fatty acids during critical fetal neurodevelopment you may need to supplement.

I am happy to help with supplement support - it is important to choose quality ultra pure and high strength oils that are sourced sustainably and third party tested. Quality can really make a difference and vegan options are available 🌿

Do you know about folate and brain health for babies and adults?

Folate is a form of vitamin B9. Folate is naturally occurring with leafy green vegetables being the best source of dietary folate. Actually folate comes from the Latin word "folium" which means leaf 🌿

Low folate levels have been associated increased risk of birth and infant neurological abnormalities.

During digestion folate is converted to its active form (5-MTHF) 5 methyltetrahydrofolate before entering the bloodstream.

Now here's where it gets really interesting. A gene, the MTHFR Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase gene, provides instructions to make the enzyme needed to convert folate to its active form - methylfolate. However a genetic mutation in the MTHFR gene can decrease folate metabolism.

A severe MTHFR deficiency (low enzyme activity) can present as neurological abnormalities, developmental delay, seizures, low mood or gait dysfunction in infants or adolescence.

To address a MTHFR mutation and support infants, adolescence or adults with neurological abnormalities the following nutrients can be helpful: methylfolate, (active B9), active B12 and B6, D3, Magnesium, and glutathione.

Supplementing with methylfolate has many advantages over the synthetic form of vitamin B9 - folic acid, because methylfolate is well absorbed and bioavailable. Conversion of folic acid to the active form 5-MTHF is slower and less efficient than folate, and may not completely metabolise before the next dose causing unmetabolised folic acid to build up in the bloodstream.

The takeaway - it's best to get your nutrients from food, however for people planning to get pregnant and during pregnancy research supports the effectiveness of methylfolate supplementation with lower risk of toxicity.

With recent news of Tylenol (paracetamol) being implicated with adverse outcomes for babies mental health and development. Studies first showed this in 2013. The first key thing to note is that it is NOT the mother's fault; but pharmaceutical companies for recommending Tylenol to pregnant mothers without robust studies proving long term safety. (The studies looked for increased malformations but not toxic effects on the brain.) Remember all medications have possible side effects and toxicity. I remember being told it was not safe to take any medications while pregnant because they can cross the placenta.

This highlights the importance for a woman to prepare her body for pregnancy which includes detoxing, good hydration, strength, and optimal nutrition prior to conception.

KEY NUTRIENTS TO SUPPORT CONCEPTION, PREGNANCY AND INFANT HEALTH ARE:

Folate needs to be taken for a minimum of three months prior to conception for prevention of neural tube defects (NTDs). Additionally low vitamin B12, copper and choline are associated with increased risk of NTDs, along with low iron, iodine and zinc increasing risk of neurologicalal abnormalities.

Folate supplementation has been shown to reduce risk of autism, and vitamin D to reduce ADHD development.

Folate, zinc, selenium, vitamin A, B12, D, copper, manganese, molybdenum, iron all support healthy embryonic growth and development.

Folate, vitamin B2, B6 and D, and zinc may protect against post- natal depression, while selenium and iodine are important for thyroid function in both mother and baby. Vitamin K is important for clotting factors. Message me if you would like the studies.

Doesn't this highlight the importance of nutrition for the extra demands made on a woman's body while growing a small human?!! Sadly because our soils are nutrient deficient, our food is nutrient deficient and then our bodies become nutrient deficient.

If you would like nutritional, lifestyle and supplemental support through this beautiful life stage, please message me.

COMPARE NUMBER OF COVID INFECTIONS IN UNVACCINATED VS 3 PLUS DOSES....

The graph below is a visual representation of NZ government data, depicting:

number of CASES of Covid 19, by vaccination status per 100,000 population.

All the different vaccine status groups are of different sizes, but once the data is represented per 100,000 of each vaccine status, the differing sizes of the groups no longer confound the data.

What do we see from this graph?

This depicts a five week period in the 5th "wave" of Covid 19 in New Zealand in November 2023.

Each vaccination status is represented by a different colour (key at the bottom)

From left you right (within each week block) you have:
unvaccinated
one dose
two dose
three plus doses

Unvaccinated is the red block
Three plus doses is the towering blue block

Here you can see

1) Extremely low infection rate in unvaccinated
2) extraordinarily high infection rate in the 3 dose plus demographic
