Everything starts somewhere. People who are looking to get into calisthenics are often intimidated by the 'extreme' positions.. Your not expected to sprint hurdles before you can walk!

Thats one of the beautiful things about calisthenics, every movement can be scaled to suit your starting point and the skill potential is never ending.

Another great thing is calisthenics requires almost no equipment! If you have access to a playground or a set of Olympic rings, your sorted! That's all you need!

There is no need to be intimidated! The sooner you get started the sooner you will progress and develop your strength and skills!
... Now relating to the video above..

I had to stop training planche for over a year as I was getting sharp shooting pain down the ulnar nerve after immediately performing them. Honestly no one could figure out what was going on or why the pain was occurring, I went to several physios and chiropractors and they were all baffled. I took time off (a LOT of time off) and addressed wrist extension, elbow external rotation and shoulder position.

I am very grateful to be able to say I have now remedied this matter and it is a non issue! πŸ₯³

I did have my straddle planche when I had to stop. I'm am easing back in to the planche now. fortunately this tuck planche was very comfortable and pain free!

Sissy squat to bridge and back.

Tis fun to play around with new movements. I was inspired to give this a try after seeing a friend do these yesterday.

Must say my performance isn't as smooth as his was. First rep my hand placement was wrong coming into the bridge. Second rep my weight distribution was off resulting in a sloppy partial sissy squat coming back up.

All in all, not bad and definitely room for improvement.

Here are 5 benefits of ice bath therapy.

1. It soothes sore muscles
Ice bath therapy is a way to speed up the process by mitigating inflammation and DOMS
Ice bath submersion helps repair damage associated with intense physical training. When you immerse yourself in ice cold water, your blood vessels constrict; when you get out, they dilate. This process helps flush away metabolic waste post-workout, especially in the lymph nodes, the clear fluid made up of white blood cells and fluid from your intestines. Increasing your blood flow floods your cells with nutrients and oxygen to help your body recover faster. The local temperature of your body is also decreased, which helps limit inflammatory response and therefore recover faster.

2. It boosts your metabolism & immune system
There is also ways to jolt your flu-fighting system to life without the need for vitamins and supplements. Ice bath submersion and alternative breathing techniques offer a demonstrated ability to trigger an adaptation response to the immune system. It’s what’s called β€˜controlled hypoxia’—and it works by activating the stress hormone adrenaline. With an exposure to physiological stressors, ice bath therapy challenges the body to function beyond its comfort zone, hence its direct effect on immune function.

3. It trains you to stressful situations
From a mental standpoint, you’re challenging your body by being exposed to different stresses and stimuli, which makes you more resilient and prepares you for different challenges in the future. It also decreases the production of inflammatory cytokines which are linked to anxiety and depression. After the initial temperature shock, our bodies are able to calm down and become more resilient to changes in our environment.

4. It helps you sleep better
Ice baths have a positive effect on the central nervous system, which helps you sleep and feel better. This, in turn, may improve your reaction time and explosiveness in future workouts.
More than 80% of athletes taking ice baths report improved mental state and far better sleep patterns.

5. It may help you improve sports performance

Raw mince, raw egg yolk, butter fried garlic and onion, and a few slices if halloumi.

Bar the halloumi, I was dreading this meal when I saw it on my current protocol with .nutrition. Now it's my preferred meal! Who woulda thought!

This past year has been transformational on many levels but I'll keep this post relevant to nutrition.

A few years ago I was vegan (for almost 3 years) until a began experiencing a spectrum of health issues. IBS, fatigue, constant body aches, getting sick easily to name a few. Likely due to a lack of animal proteins and fats and equally likely due to an excess of non essential and actually damaging nutrients such as oxilates, lecithins and other inflammatory constituents.

It all changed when I had the pleasure of meeting .nutrition whilst I was in Bali. I had been following him for awhile, I was intruiged with the information he shares, so it was an amazing synchronisity to have the opportunity organically arise to meet him

I began implementing the protocols he suggested & noticed a rapid improvement in my health and wellbeing.

No more aches and pains, small niggly pains that wouldn't go away dissolved in days, No more fluctuations in energy, no mood swings and my skin cleared of psoriasis. I recovered quickly from training, I slept better, woke up feeling fresh among other benefits.

It's really amazing how profound the effects of what we eat have on us.

Left to my own accord for awhile, I started getting psoriasis again. So I have since sought his guidance again and I am continuing to reap the benefits and noticing a clearing of the psoriasis.

I will likely never understand nutrition like he Dominic does. That's why you hire a coach, to reap the wisdom of their years of hard earned knowledge.

If you want to move better, perform better, get stronger, look better, hire a quality coach!

Don't waste your time trying to figure it all out on your own, you will ultimately save time and money buy hiring a proficient coach and gain some of their condensed wisdom to streamline your journey.

What are your goals? What are your values?

Have you hired a coach to help you?.. You probably should.

Insights and Snippets from yesterdays training.

Recently I've been training with headphones and only recording one set of each exercise. These two changes have felt super refreshing and it helps me keep my 'head in the game'

🎧Usually I don't have head phones in, this means between and even during sets I have conversations with people which, sure its nice, but it's distracts me from my training and from internally reviewing the previous or current rep/set.

🎢 Having headphones in stops people talking to you, which I have found to be very beneficial to remain focused, intentional and aware throughout every single rep. And of course having my current go to music playing in my ears setting the ambiance further helps this flow state.

πŸŽ₯ I usually film most sets so I can review it immediately after and see what subtle changes need to me made or what changes were made the resulted in a more successful rep. As much as I find a lot of value in this, it also distracts me from the immersion of the exercise at hand.

Now I only record one set (unless it's an exercise that has lots of nuances that I'm still Figuring out) and this too has improved my overall experience and immersion within an exercise.

For a few weeks, maybe months, I had kinda lost my mojo for my own training, making these changes has brought it back.

Training for myself, for my own personal growth, injecting as much awareness as I can into every moment (rather than training for the camera or for insta or in this silent competition with other insta calisthenics practitioners) has brought joy back to the process.

Training is where I get my insights for life, when I'm fully immersed, its as though I receive information from the universe. Training has been my guru always and I was gutted when I lost it.

But its back 😜 and I'm coming back 😁πŸ’ͺ
